finally.

i smiled, putting on a device, like a necklace. my hands glided towards the amulet. now saiki can't hear my mind.

oh! haven't i told you?

flashback

saiki isn't very used to not hearing anyone's thoughts. i wonder if there's a way only my mind cannot be read? well, other then being an idiot. (sorry nendo, you're a cool kid) maybe germanium is only affecting his power, maybe i can use germanium on myself, so that when saiki is near or even 200 meters away, he won't be able to read my thoughts.

that's it! i'll just make a germanium necklace with my power! i haven't really mastered it though, i think i should really try and practice for this one.

i got up from my chair, grabbing a bit of metal and an old germanium ring i used to have back in england.

you're probably asking, why are are you making a necklace when you have this ring? well to answer that, fashion issues and any interference with my hand and the rest of the energy around will cause it to be... unfortunately odd..

this doesn't mean for gloves though, i can use gloves as long as it's cotton. the fabric doesn't interfere because the energy accounts it as hair or fur, that it's a part of my body. so with metal, well.. the energy decides it's a material.

flashback end

"yan?" saiki came up to me, surprising me suddenly. i waved with a smile, quietly wondering if he could hear my thoughts still. i fiddled with my fingers, awkwardly waiting for a response.

he looked at me, quite concerned. i stared at him as well, his features practically glowing. his eyes, his hair, and his hands. all were so appealing. wait- is that the germanium ring?

oh shoot. i wanted this to be a surprise. "yan?? you're zoning out." saiki waved his hand in front of my face. i grabbed his hand, almost gentle yet swift. i took of his ring slowly as he looked at me, puzzled.

"hey, you said you didn't want me to hear your thoughts." he said, his eyebrows almost touching, furrowed. he was confused, staring intently.

i ignored him. now then, let's see if this works. i started thinking automatically about how cute saiki looks. huh? when did i start finding him attractive? wait he kept his ring on for me?

does he care about me? i started shaking my head, trying to get rid of those thoughts. "i still can't hear your thoughts. what did you do?"

i saw him squint his eyes, probably of how many thoughts he could now hear. i felt bad. he put his hand towards his head to rub his temples. "you're so quiet?" he said, looking at me concerned.

"ah- sorry." i was zoning out. i kept looking at his features. stop it yan, i slapped my cheeks. "anyways, i made this necklace so that you couldn't hear my thoughts! quite clever of me, no?" i said, proudly showing off my amulet.

"hm?" he said, his deep (ish) yet soft voice ringing in my ears. i must be red right now. no, you don't like him. stop it yan! i kept mentally slapping myself. his bony, slim hands slid close to my chest, gently caressing the germanium necklace.

"i saw that you were not used to not hearing anyone's thoughts with your ring, so i tried to make it so that you only couldn't hear mine." i scratched the back of my head, awkwardly waiting for a response.

his blank stare genuinely terrifies me. he walked past me without a word. i heard a crack to my heart, shattering as i fell to the floor, weak. he probably thinks i'm pathetic! i can't help him, he's an all powerful physic and i'm nothing compared to him!

i heard footsteps approaching me, quite fast. "sorry yan..." he said, giving his hand for support. "thank you for looking out for me." he said, his face with a slight smile. "oh- no problem!" i said, cheering up.

"do you want to go to cafe mami with me?" he said, lifting me up from the ground. "sure!" i said, my face smiling even more. i think we're going to ditch nendo and kaidou again, but if it's for saiki, i don't really care.

we got into class and kaidou approached me. "yan! you seem to be happy today! perhaps you have defeated some of the dark reunion's minions!" he said, covering his face with his hand covered in red bandages.

"nope! but yes, i am happy." i said, still smiling with glee. jeez, how come i can't stop? am i that glad to hang out with saiki? "oh-" kaidou said, his face a bit flushed. "your smile is cute.." he blabbered. "what?" i said, confused but nothing could ruin my mood.

"NOTHING!" he said, running away. that was weird. well, anyways, i can't wait to go to cafe mami! i heard there's really good coffee jelly there! i heard loud footsteps coming towards me, that of a giant bull, but quickly noticed it was nendo. easy to recognize. "hey girlie!" oh? a new nickname other then girl buddy? "let's go get ramen with the other buddies!" he said, pointing towards saiki and kaidou.

i looked at saiki and practically communicated with him, even though we both said nothing. his eyes said 'we'll ditch them' and i nodded. "okayy!" i said, nodding. i feel so connected to saiki, man we literally just talked to each other without even saying anything, damn, not even lip syncing!

honestly though, why does he have to be so... i mean what? um.. ok..

after school, me and saiki walked side by side as nendo and kaidou kept blabbering about random stuff. i felt stares from time to time, which was unusual since i haven't exactly felt more then one stare at a time.

well, anyways. i just quietly walked away, swiftly ditching them. saiki doing the same, he came up to me and held my hand. "invisibility" he said, looking at me with a flustered expression. we ran to cafe mami, wanting to get rid of the two fast.

well, in all, they are good friends, but they get pretty annoying and reckless at times. so i just wanted to relax, sit with saiki and eat.

wait! i said i would get a job here right? i'll go see if there's any opening. "saiki, i'm gonna see if there's any jobs available here. i want to get a cafe job soo yeah.." i said, getting up and walking to the register.

it's hard to explain myself because i'm already kind of used to him hearing my thoughts. but change is sometimes good, we just need to adapt. "hello! what can i help you with?" the cashier said, fixing his hair.

"is there any job opening here? i would like to be a waitress." i said, cuffing my hands together. "ah, yes. here are the papers, please fill them out and we will get you an interview upcoming." he said, smiling.

i felt a glare but shook it off. i walked back to the table that me and saiki were sitting at. he put his head in his hand, resting. he seemed annoyed, looking out the window with his green glasses flashing.

"uh,, saiki? are you okay?" i said, confused. "yeah, let's order already." i wonder why he's so annoyed. what's his problem? a waitress approached us and asked what we wanted. "i'll have a coffee jelly and some coffee!" i said. "same with me." saiki said, his voice (is it really his voice?) stern.

"of course." the waitress said, taking our orders to the counter. almost immediately, she came back with our order. "oh wow." i said, looking straight at the coffee jelly. i grabbed the spoon and started filling my mouth with it.

"mm!" i said, muffled. this sweet and savory taste is divine. thank you, oh heavenly saiki. sweet cheeks, this is actually so delicious.

i looked at saiki and his reaction was the same. he's so cute though. i can't stop smiling when i see him- WOAH WHAT? when did i start thinking those silly things. well, i can't deny that i'm attracted to him.

we both finished and packed up. i took the paper home to come back to cafe mami the next day. i hope i get the job, i don't exactly need it but it's a good way to earn pocket money.
