It was mid-afternoon, and the Horizon Shadow Class was buzzing with energy—or more accurately, with hunger. They had just finished a grueling Pam lesson, and everyone’s stomachs were growling.
“Okay, who’s got snacks?” Vivie asked, her eyes darting around the room. “I’m starving!”
Melcie leaned back in her chair, looking around with a sly smile. “I heard that Mr. Ahmad has a secret stash of snacks in the teachers’ lounge. Chips, chocolates, the works.”
Vivie perked up, her short stature not diminishing her enthusiasm. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
Ann Christy adjusted her glasses and looked cautiously at the others. “You guys, stealing from a teacher is a bad idea…”
“But if we don’t get caught, it’s just borrowing!” Nicole quipped, nudging Angella, who was already smirking.
“Alright, team, who’s in?” Sherlyn asked, already plotting. Her straightforward attitude meant she was ready to dive into any scheme, especially one this mischievous.
Intan looked up from her phone, her prankster vibe adding an air of gravity to the situation. “Count me in. I’m curious to see how this unfolds.”
Hani, who had just woken up from another nap, rubbed her eyes and asked, “What’s happening? Are we robbing a bank?”
“No, just a snack stash,” Angella said with a grin. “But honestly, with this crew, it might feel the same.”
Rendyy volunteered to be the lookout, though everyone knew his loudness would make him a terrible one. Still, no one had the heart to tell him.
Alif and Filbert were tasked with distracting any teachers that might pass by, their “cool guy” act coming in handy. Nigel and Max stayed behind, tweaking their gaming strategy while claiming they were ready to provide “tech support” if needed.
Shenny was in charge of the heist’s logistics. “Okay, so the stash is in the cupboard next to the fridge. If anyone asks, we’re ‘reorganizing’ the lounge.”
Olga and Evagellina giggled as they headed to the door, while Novelyn rolled her eyes, pretending to be above it all but clearly excited.
The team stealthily—or as stealthily as a group of excited teenagers could—crept toward the teachers’ lounge. They sent Mae and Jarezza ahead to scout the area.
Esther hung back, phone in hand, ready to record the whole thing. “This is going on the class group chat,” she whispered.
Mary and Faizah stayed behind to cover for the group in case anyone came looking for them. Lorenda and Eva Son stayed with them, crafting elaborate stories about how they’d “seen nothing.”
The heist itself was a comedy of errors. Lorenda tried to act like the lookout, but her “scary mother” vibe made the team more nervous than reassured. Dayana and Asnina struggled to keep quiet as they tried not to burst into laughter. Farhanah kept giving everyone away by whispering too loudly, and Ransyam—despite being instructed to keep quiet—unleashed one of his signature bomb-coughs, causing the entire class to freeze in panic.
Finally, they made it to the cupboard. Melcie opened the door with a flourish, and there it was: Mr. Ahmad’s precious snack stash.
Vivie quickly grabbed a bag of chips, Angella snatched some chocolates, and the rest of the group stuffed their pockets with as much as they could carry. Ransyam made the mistake of trying to carry too much, and a cascade of snacks tumbled to the floor.
“Abort! Abort!” Amirul hissed, trying to shove as much as possible back into the cupboard before they were caught.
The group bolted out of the lounge, snacks in hand, and ran back to their classroom. They slid into their seats just as the bell rang, with Mr. Ahmad strolling in a moment later, oblivious to the chaos that had just ensued.
As soon as the teacher’s back was turned, Melcie passed a bag of chips to Vivie, who promptly shared with Nicole and Angella. Ann Christy sighed, but even she couldn’t resist taking a piece of chocolate when Clency offered.
The rest of the period was spent munching on their spoils, with the occasional giggle or whisper about their daring heist.
“You know,” Sherlyn said with a grin, “We might just have a future in espionage.”
“Yeah, if we ever figure out how to stop dropping everything,” Angella joked, as the class enjoyed the snacks and the thrill of their adventure.
