The atmosphere inside Serenity Vale High School was tense as the students tried to process the arrival of the stranger, Joel. They had been on edge for days, and the appearance of a new survivor brought as much suspicion as it did relief.

Joel sat at the center of the auditorium, surrounded by the Horizon Shadow Class. His clothes were torn, and his face was smeared with dirt and dried blood. He looked exhausted, his eyes darting around nervously as if expecting a zombie to leap out of the shadows at any moment.

Nigel was the first to break the silence. "Joel, right? Can you tell us what happened? How did you end up here?"

Joel looked at him, swallowing hard before speaking. "I was part of a group, about ten of us. We had holed up in a warehouse a few miles from here. We thought we were safe, but then… they came."

"They?" Shamir asked, his brow furrowed.

"Zombies," Joel replied, his voice shaking. "But not just any zombies. These were… different. Faster, stronger. They tore through our defenses like they were nothing."

The students exchanged uneasy glances. The idea of zombies becoming more powerful was a terrifying prospect.

"What happened to the others?" Vivie asked, her voice soft.

Joel lowered his head, his hands trembling. "They didn’t make it. I was the only one who got out. I ran… I ran for days until I saw this school. I thought maybe… maybe there would be someone here."

Shenny, who had been standing by the door, spoke up. "And what about these zombies? Do you think they followed you?"

Joel shook his head. "I don’t know. I lost them a few miles back, but… they’re out there. And they’re getting smarter."

The group was silent for a moment, each person processing Joel’s words. The possibility of facing more dangerous zombies was a daunting thought.

"We need to prepare," Shamir finally said, his voice steady. "If what Joel says is true, we’re going to need to step up our defenses."

"Agreed," Nigel replied, nodding. "We’ll set up more traps and reinforce the barricades. But we also need to find out more about these new zombies."

"Are you suggesting we go looking for them?" Intan asked, her voice tinged with fear.

"Not exactly," Nigel said. "But if they’re out there, we need to know what we’re up against. We can’t afford to be caught off guard."

Mary stepped forward, her expression determined. "We can set up some lookout posts around the perimeter. If any of these new zombies show up, we’ll know."

"And we should move supplies to safer locations within the school," Mae added. "If we have to fall back, we need to make sure we have what we need."

As the students discussed their plans, Joel remained quiet, his eyes distant. The horrors he had witnessed had clearly taken a toll on him, and the others could see that he was struggling to keep it together.

Later that night, as the students worked to fortify their defenses, a sense of unease settled over the school. The air felt thick with tension, and every creak and groan of the building set their nerves on edge.

Shenny, Ransyam, and Daryl were stationed at one of the lookout posts they had set up on the roof. They scanned the darkened streets below, their flashlights cutting through the shadows.

"Anything?" Ransyam asked, his voice low.

"Nothing so far," Daryl replied, squinting into the darkness. "But I don’t like this. It’s too quiet."
