The next day

Aaron: Well, we're here. Hopefully this goes good.

Michael: I'm betting on it.

Aaron: Yeah, that's what I'm worried about.

Stacy: Oh, stop it. I'm sure Michael will do good. Even if he doesn't get the first place, he still will win something.

Aaron: Maybe your right.

Stacy: Have I ever been wrong?

Michael: Alright, I'm gonna set up Gerald in the competition area, you guys gonna sit over there?

Aaron: We might get some funnel cake before we do. Don't worry, we'll save a piece for you!

Michael: Good. See you guys soon.

Aaron and Stacy: Good luck!

As you could probably tell, I was a bit nervous about the whole thing. For the most part, I was thinking about what would they think of me. Because I was the grandson of a deceased scientist who had been shamed by his own countrymen.

Of course, that also would make me even more worried as my own family had also been dealing with this sort of problem.

I was even more worried about mentioning my name when they asked who I was because saying my name would often cause a lot more trouble and even worse, we would have more people treating us like trash.

As I got even more nervous, I looked at all the inventions by other contestants and saw that they were a bit better than me. I mean most inventions at the competition were very nice and mines was more of an average. It could earn me a participation award or even a third place.

There was however one good thing that occurred during the competition. When I was leaving to get myself a burger from one of the concession stands, I happened to bump into an old friend of mine: Alexander Hutchins. My old friend from Elementary to High school. The minute we saw each other was like a family reunion. Almost.

I had many friends from school that still supported my family and didn't really agree with how people treated us these days. He was one of the few that actually came to the funeral and comforted me and my brother and sister so we were very excited to see him again.

We had a nice friendly chat at a nearby seating area where we talked about what we had been doing over the years since we last saw each other. I told him all about my mother's death and how my father felt after that. He then of course hugged me to comfort me which I was really grateful for.

Elizabeth was also at the event as well willing to cheer me on after Stacy told her about how I was willing to regain my family honor. Many people who supported my Grandfather and my family all came to support me so I wasn't completely alone.

Then it came.

Once the announcer told everyone to get their robots all settled down and await for presentation, I was able to calm myself down and remind myself why I was doing this.
