After the embarrassing failure at the village, most of or whatever remained of our forces retreated back to the city to prepare for a final stand.

But with Knight at our doorstep and our army in disarray, it was clear by day who the true Victor was going to be.

However, we were not going to go down without a fight.

Using what resources we had left, we prepared a long line of defenses around the city and key entry points to where Knight and his forces could get inside.

The remaining industrial capacity of the city was used to churn out the last of the weapons and new prototypes of drones and firearms that were left as well as first and only prototypes of weapons that did not reach full acceptance or were fully tested such as tanks and artillery.

Some weapons that were left in our stockpile aresenal were either transferred to a safe location or were given to the remaining units that were inside the city.

Most of the elite units did not have the numbers they used to have before the village siege so in order to boost our numbers, we started recruiting whatever people we could find.

From ordinary citizens to criminals that were unable to leave the prison to even some of our worst enemies which included some of my old enemies from high school which I had to threaten in order to join my last contingent corps: The Techno Militia.

While not as big as my usual standing armies or my mercenary corps, the Techno Militia was made of recruits ranging from super loyal and obedient to people who I did not like in my life time and who were my enemies such as one of the rich girls who called my sister by a horrible name and was forced into my militia after I threatened to kill her and her mother.

And if you are asking this, yes it was a bit radical at the time and yes I admit that I was going a bit insane and yes an action like that would have earned me an execution to just forcibly conscript my old countrymen into fighting my own war which by right was not as justified as I previously thought but at the time I was desperate and desperate people tend to do not nice things especially in this kind of situation.

There were some people within the local population who actually supported my ideals because they too also suffered a lot from the Social Club and were especially unhappy with many social reforms and economic problems and how much influence they had in the government, some were either anti-monarchy and others simply wanted in on the action.

Unlike the mercenary corps, the militia was a smaller reserve version with command given to veterans and defected honor guards or anyone who previously served in the Royal Militia and either defected or were forced to switch sides. It was given to the command by one of the best mercenaries I had within my army and another candidate for my future inner circle: Captain Sato Takeshi.

A former captain within the JSGDF and a most wanted hired mercenary from Osaka, Japan, Takeshi was one of the best of my commandos and an excellent tactician who was also unhappy with many political issues happening back home and the fact that his parents were not exactly the nice people he once thought and was disowned by his family after an affair.

As leader of the new militia, he was given a new rank and full command of the militia as well as training and equipping them. 10,000 strong and ready for combat, they would eventually become a new member of the Techno Armed Forces which would be the successor to my Techno Revolutionary Army.

Aside from this new force, there were some remaining units and divisions that resided within the city or did not take part in the battle of the village. Some were light infantry, barely equipped, newly created, and some didn't have their original number of personnel.
