Aurora's Family

JIM POV:

I finished getting ready for my date and looked in the mirror. I look good.

"You have a visitor" said the doorbell.

That's odd. I thought I would be picking Aurora. Oh well, either way works for me. I went to the door and opened it to see Aurora's parents and sister.

"Hi" I said surprised.

I, wasn't expecting this. I also question if this means Aurora is having second thoughts. Or worse, I hope it's not worse.

"Nice, he looks the part" said Aurora's dad.

"What's happening" I asked.

"We are going with you to chaperone on the date" said Aurora's mom.

I was surprised by this.

"What, why" I asked.

"Normally when you go on a date to a restaurant or the movies there is other people in the building. We don't have that here. So it's more like going to the woods alone" said Aurora's dad.

That's, actually a valid point.

"Okay" I said.

Aurora's mom gave me a crochet rose.

"Here, to give to Aurora" she said.

We left and went to Aurora's room to pick her up. The family stood off to the side and I scanned my bracelet on the door.

"You have a visitor" said the doorbell.

I stood there and held the rose in my hands. The door opened and no one was there. Shortly after Aurora walked up to us wearing a black dress. I already knew she was beautiful but I was still in awe by her beauty.

"Wow" I said.

"You clean up pretty well yourself" said Aurora.

She stood in front of me and looked at her family.

"Oh, they insisted on chaperoning toninght" I said.

Aurora looked at her family.

"I was promised free food" said Prim.

We all chuckled a little and I gave Aurora the rose.

"Here you go" I said.

"Thank you" said Aurora.

I hald out my hand and Aurora took it. We left the rooms with the family following us. They stayed a good six feet back. I'm not happy being a grown man with chaperones on a date but atleast they aren't breathing down our necks. We made it to the restaurant and were taken to the tables. Aurora's family was a few tables away.

"My family didn't give you a hard time right" asked Aurora.

"No, I think they are okay with me. But I'm not sure if that means anything" I said.

"Why is that" asked Aurora.

"Well besides your family I'm the only one awake. So it's not like we have many options on who to date" I said.

"I don't know, relationships are always changing. There are 5,000 passengers on board. Perhaps we could just create a new version of Tinder" said Aurora.

We both laughed at the idea.

"True but that means you would have to wake that person up in order to meet them" I said.

"I'm sure most people would" said Aurora.

"You really think you would" I asked.

Not that I have room to talk since I woke her up. Her family was already awake when our pods malfunction but Aurora didn't. So her family is part of the reason. The other is I fell in love and was feeling lonely.

"Probably, I mean if I was lonely enough and if I knew how. But I also assume that person would be made I woke them up" said Aurora.

"Ya, probably best we let everyone else sleep" I said.

I want to tell Aurora I woke her up but I have no idea how. Plus how would her family feel about it?

"Anyway, how has your day been" asked Aurora.

"Good, I spent the day mostly fixing robots. They keep breaking down for some reason" I said.
