When they got there, they saw what looked like hundreds and hundreds of children. Kantomaru was thinking that this was going to be easy as many peoples physic left him utterly ashamed for them, he then saw Temari and smiled, she smiled back and came to speak to him.
While that was going on. "Man, there is about one thousand one hundred applicants this year about 400 more children than last year it seems lord kazekage's speech at the plaza really worked and motivated the new generation. We where also told to accept as many students as possible because the war really affected us, I mean it's quite obvious which is the weakest village out the five great nations, so much for 'we will win this war', we lost the war so bad that even the Daimyo of the land of wind shorted our funds and the amount of mission we get. I highly doubt any of these new recruits will amount to anything". "It's true but you shouldn't be so pessimistic Akari look at the bright side what if there is a genius hiding in these new recruits." "Ahaha, you don't even believe that yourself Mai when was the last time Sunagakure had a genius? Exactly, never" Akari said while bursting into laughter. Mai sighed and dangerously glared at one of the most negative chunin that she's ever met in her life.
"Alright kids listen up! Today is when boys will turn into men and girls will turn into women! We shall find and separate the weak from the strong and the talented from the useless." Said a chunnin. In this specific moment Kantomaru eyes were finally opened and he came to the realisation that this isn't Konoha. Sunagakure doesn't pamper its shinobi.
After being registered by a grumpy man called Akari, Kantomaru got in line with all the other kids and eagerly awaited instructions. The first stage of the exam was called 'Desert Endurance Test' the Objective was to assess the candidate's physical stamina and adaptability in harsh environments. The tasks where as followed.
Stage 1: agility and endurance test
First came The Desert Run: Candidates must navigate a sandy obstacle course, starting with evading red crosses on the ground that act as traps (stepping on one will deduct 10 seconds from their overall time). This includes rock climbing and crawling under nets, while eventually ending with 20 burpees. To pass this exam you had to finish the course in the time limit which was 10 minutes.
The Second test was The Relay Race: Participate in a team relay race, passing a baton while running across different terrain sections. Each team must be in the top 5 of their group of 10 teams to pass.
Passing Criteria:
To pass Stage 1, candidates must successfully complete both the Desert Run and the Relay Race.
Kantomaru easily completed the obstacle course in about 2 minutes and 50 seconds as he flawlessly dodged all the traps and easily climbed the wall. He had good stamina, speed and strength thanks to his training so this wasn't too hard it kind of reminded him of military training as he saw the instructors intimidating the other kids before the obstacle race which proved effective causing many to get nervous and scared making them unable to complete the course within the time limit. Kantomaru looked in disappointment as people his age were just so un-athletic, like you know when you see someone so un-athletic that it pisses you off. However, then Kantomaru looked at the elite of this year's crop Temari, some guy named Kozo and some other guy name Gizo, they were all able to finish the obstacle course in under 3 minutes. "I'd expect nothing less from the Kazekage's daughter". Kantomaru said to himself while going to the next stage.
Stage 2: Basic Physical and Coordination Test
Objective: To evaluate the candidates' basic physical skills and coordination.
Tasks:
1. Balance Rope: Walk across a suspended rope placed over sand without falling off.
2. Agility Course: Complete an agility course that includes jumping over hurdles, dodging swinging sandbags, and weaving through poles.
Passing criteria:
To pass this stage, candidates' performance will be evaluated and scored by the instructors, who will determine the pass/fail status based on the points awarded.
Kantomaru was very confident in this too as he didn't fall and easily breezed through the agility course. Then last came the final stage.
Stage 3: Intelligence and Problem-Solving Test
Objective: To measure the candidates' intelligence and problem-solving abilities.
Tasks:
1. Written Quiz: Answer age-appropriate questions on basic math, logic, and simple village history.
2. Puzzle Solving: Work on a series of puzzles that require logical thinking and basic problem-solving skills.
3. Pattern Recognition: Identify patterns in a sequence of shapes or numbers.
Passing criteria:
Candidates must achieve an overall score of at least 55% to pass this stage.
Thanks to being mentally an adult and spending most of his time reading about the village's history Kantomaru was sure he destroyed all the exams easily. He was then handed a sheet which said 'passing criteria' by one of the examiners so he read it and it said - Passing Criteria:
Candidates must pass at least 2 of the 3 stages to be considered for admission to the Sunagakure Ninja Academy. Evaluators look for qualities such as resilience, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and a strong desire to learn. This exam is designed to identify the natural talents and potential of young children in Sunagakure, ensuring they are well-suited for the challenging but rewarding path of becoming a ninja. Thank you for reading this, come back next week to see if you've passed. And so Kantomaru left home happily and eagerly awaiting the day he would finally make the first big step to becoming a true ninja.
(N/A good day, nice sun, good chapter and a good life)
