ONE YEAR LATER

"You must!" Babka screeched, "You must!" The woman's hands were unnaturally long as they shook Aeirwen by her shoulders.

"I cannot."

"He'll kill you, Rennie!" Babka screamed, using Aelin's voice. She shut her eyes, not wanting to see her sister's deformed face made by the witch. The woman took Aeirwen's hand in her own. "It is a privilege to kill. To take life and have the power to hold it in your hands." No, no, no, she did not wish to kill him.

"He'll kill you!" Aemond's voice shouted at her. NO!

"Please, stop." She asked the witch and surprisingly Babka did. The witch passed her their breakfast and sat down in front of her.

"You are still thin, not good enough to eat you." The last part was muttered and Aeirwen barely caught it. "But strong enough to kill him." A chuckle escaped the witch and she leaned back in her seat. "There will be many more lifes to take, girl. War is coming."

"You say that and yet I see no war." Aeirwen snapped back at Babka, who paid it no mind.

"You will kill him today. Your dragon burned a village near the forest." The black cat jumped on the table and stared at Aeirwen. He seemed to be smirking. The witch moved her hand and her broom, which turned into a sword, flew right into her hand. "Life must pay for the dead."

"No." Aeirwen shook her head. She did not wish to kill Chameleon. He was her dragon. Her big stupid lizard that tried to kill her for the last... How long was she here? She had no idea and Babka had no intention of telling her. She tried to keep track of the time by counting how many times she bled, but she thought of that too late.
