We get our drinks and popcorn then start walking to find seats.
We sit down in the fifth row and put our stuff down. Johnny and I just talk a bit then the movie starts,while we watch the movie I hear a familiar voice.
It was Ponyboy,he was with dallas.They were 2 rows in front of us.
I let out a small gasp and tap Johnnys shoulder."Johnny did you know they would be here..?" I ask while staring at Pony.
"No,I promise I didn't"
I kept looking at him then I saw dallas get up and walk to the concession stand,I look the other way so he can't see my face.
I look back at Pony and he's talking to some red head,She looks familiar.It was the one and only Cherry Valance, she's a popular cheerleader from our school.
He looked so happy talking to her,I don't even think he looks that happy with me.I felt tears forming in my eyes.
"Johnny can we go" my voice cracks."Are you okay?" he puts his hand on my shoulder,"Yeah,I don't know,can we just go" I say breathing harder."It is because of Pony and that red head?" he asks.
"Johnny please let's go" I stand up.
"Nora,don't let him ruin your night" he says also standing up."Johnny please I don't want to see them" more tears start forming.
"Nora let's just si-" "Johnny please!" I cut him off and shout. "Nora..?" I hear Pony from behind me and turn around fast.I could tell he saw the tears.
"Nora what happened?" He asks and steps closer,"Hmm I really wonder" I say through tears and gesturing my hand to Cherry.
"No,I swear it's not like tha-" "Oh yeah sure,how about you go talk to your new girl" I shout then walk away."Nora!" I hear him yell.
••••••••~~PONYS POV~~••••••••
I was bewildered but knew she was just upset after everything that happened in one day."Come on man" Johnny says putting his hand on his head."Why were you guys even here" I ask "She was really sad about your guys fight so Soda told me to help her"
"Wait,Soda told everything?" I ask wide eyed "I mean yeah,and Pony I'm not gonna try to take her from you" He says tilting his head.
I smile then I realize Nora is walking home by herself."Shit I need to go get her" I run out and go looking for her.I'm about five minutes from the house and I see her walking and smoking a cigarette.
"Nora!" I shout then she stops walking and turns around,"Pony?" I hear her say under her breath.I walk closer to her and grab her hand."Nora i'm so sorry for everything,I don't want Cherry Valance I want you.Im sorry if it doesn't seem like that but-" I get cut off by her hugging me.I hug her back.
I hear and feel her crying,it hurt to know I hurt her.
••••••••~~NORAS POV~~••••••••
I hugged Pony because I just couldn't stay mad at him,but I was still upset about what I saw.
We walk back to the house and see the whole gang except Dallas,Johnny, and Darry."Where have y'all been?" Two-bit asks raising an eyebrow "Um the drive-in..?" I say slowly.
"Nora,where is Johnny." Soda asks in a serious tone "it's okay,he's with Dallas" I roll my eyes."Quit with the attitude" "yeah whatever" I walk to the kitchen and Pony follows me.
"What are you lookin for?" Pony asks hovering over my shoulder.
"I don't know,i'm just hungry" I smile at him."There's chocolate cake" he implies,"Yeah I might just get that" I get cut off by the front door opening and closing.
It was Dallas.
"Oh no" I say under my breath."He's probably mad,let's go up to your room" Pony grabs my hand and we try to walk unseen.
We are walking upstairs then I stop when I
hear my name."Where's Nora" Dallas asks Soda."I think she went up to her room" Soda answers and I hear dallas walking close.
"Come on" I pull Ponys hand and run to my room.
"Ponyboy i'm scared.." I say weakly "It's okay i'm here,We sit on my bed.Then I hear a knock at the door,"Nora can I come in?" Dallas knocks.
"What do you want" I shiver. "I just wanna talk" "Fine come in" I squeeze Pony's hand.
"Hey Nor- Oh didn't know you were in here Pony" He stumbles in.
He was badly drunk.
"What do you want Dallas" I asks moving back and scooting closer to Pony."What up with this new..attitude" he slurs out,"What do you mean" I ask.
I was scared stiff,I hate being around drunk people because it reminds me of my dad and he was not the best.Johnnys the only person I'm not scared around when they're drunk, then that reminded me.
"Wait Dallas where's Johnny?" I ask before he could answer my first question."He's in the lot" he smilies."Shit" I say getting up and running downstairs while Pony follows me.
"Hey where are you guys going in such a rush" Soda asks "the lot" we run out the door.
"Nora what's going on" Pony says "Johnny is probably upset or mad we can't leave him alone right now" I state.
Johnny always talks about killing himself because of his home life and problems.I don't think he would but I will never risk it,risk losing my best friend.
We make it to the lot and we see Johnny sitting on an old couch and smoking a cigarette.I could tell he was sad and upset.
"Give me a second to talk to him" I tell Pony and he nods.
I walk over and sit next to him and he sorta jumps."Hey Johnny,are you okay?" I say softly."Yeah just tired" he looks up at the sky.
"I'm sorry about the drive-in it's just I-" "It's okay,I get it" he looks at me then smiles.I knew he was okay by that smile.
"Come on let's go back to the house" I say as we stand up and I take Pony's hand while Johnny is beside me.
