Nothing happened after first period until lunch.
"Come on Johnny i'm hungry!" I yell at him while he's packing his things,"It's not my fault you didn't wake me up" He scoffs.
Johnny fell asleep in class because he didn't sleep that well last night.
"Where did Pony go?" Johnny asks confused "bathroom"
We walk to the cafeteria and see a group of Socs in a big group with a couple of greasers in the crowd too, then I hear someone calling me name
It was Cherry.
"Nora! Johnny!" She yells running up to us. "What's happening?" I ask mildly concerned,"Come help,Pony got into a fight!" she says while taking my hand and pulling me.
"Shit" I hear Johnny say under his breath while following.We get to the big group of people and she pulls me through to the inside of the circle where I see Pony on top of some Soc.
Johnny comes up from behind me and sees him and goes to pull him off the kid.
"Johnny let go!" Pony yells but Johnny doesn't break his grip.
Pony's has a small cut under his eye and it was starting to look swollen.
"Get the hell over here now" I pull Pony's shirt collar so we get away from people.
"Ponyboy tell me why the fuck you're fighting some Socs." I demand, "He said something really bad" He looks down."What did he say..?"
"That you would have been a Socs if it wasn't for Dallas and I and that I shouldn't be datin a girl like you because i'm a poor orphan" he said in a low tone.
His words shook me cold,Me? A socs? Ponyboy getting into fights because of me.? I felt ashamed,I am supposed to be looking out for him not causing him trouble.
"Come on let's go home before the principal comes" I say to Johnny and Pony.
The walk home is quiet except for the rocks that Johnny are kicking falling.
We walk in the door and greeted by Soda.
"Hey why ya kids home so early?" "Johnny was throwing up so we came to help" I say while putting my arm around Johnny.
"Pony what happened to your eye? " He says like standing up from the couch
"Oh some kid broke a window and a some glass cut me" he stumbles over his words."Man,I'll get the first aid kit" Soda walks away.
"Nora,I know you're probably mad but-" "Johnny come on let's go to the lot" I interrupt Pony and walk to the door while Johnny follows.
••••••••~~2 Hours later~~••••••••
It's 4p.m so Johnny and I decided to go back to the house.
"Why are you mad at Pony" Johnny asks while getting up from the floor of the lot,"I'm not man i'm just,ashamed of myself" I admit without making eye contact with him.
"Why?"
"Johnny did you not hear him,he got into a fight because of me,i was the reason he got hurt!" I raise my voice then look at him.
"Sorry" He says in a low tone and looks down.
I forgot he hates people yelling at him."Oh Johnny,sorry for yelling i'm just worked up right now." "It's fine."
We get to the house and when we walk in I see Dallas.
"Where the hell have you been!" He yells "Quit your gabbin,Johnny and I were in the lot" I walk past him to the kitchen.
"Can you try to be a good sister for one second" he shouts,I knew he was having a hard day,I mean I could tell by how he's acting.
"What do you mean,I didn't even do anything besides hangout with a friend?!" I step closer to him.
"Nora come on,let's go upstairs" Johnny says taking my hand and pulling me away from Dally.
"Fine"
We walk upstairs then I see Pony in his room.
We make eye contact then he sees Johnnys grabbing my hand,I knew he took it in the wrong way.
"Shit" I say under my breath."Is everything okay Nor?" Johnny asks while we go in my room," Yeah it's nothing,I just remembered we had English homework."
"You sure that's it?" He asks sitting down at my desk.
"Johnny,do you think I should break up with Ponyboy..?" I ask slowly while looking at the floor.
"What! Why would you want to do that?!"
"Because he deserves better than me,someone who will treat him right and not get him into trouble" I clench my hands.
"Nora i'm not gonna say what you should or shouldn't do,just do what you think is best."
Johnny was right,I need to do what was best.I knew what I had to do.
••••••••~~1 HOUR LATER~~••••••••
Johnny and I have just been talking until I hear Darry call everyone for dinner so we make our way downstairs.
We are walking down stairs and I see Pony leaving his room,I let him go down first.
"Hey Nora" Two-Bit says "Hey,where's Dallas?" I ask while looking around.
Right when I finish my sentence someone comes from behind then picks me up and spins me.
I let out a yell.
"Right here" Dally says putting me down, "woah,you're in a good mood" I state while laughing.
"Yeah,It's been a good day"
We all go to sit down.I go to sit in between to Johnny and Dally, I took a small glimpse at Pony and could tell he was upset.
"So how was school?" Darry asks looking at Johnny,Pony,and me.
"It was good-" "It was okay" Ponyboy interrupts me."Pony got into a fight" "Johnny!" Pony says while shooting his head up.
"Is that true!?" Darry raises his voice.
"Yes,but it wasn't that bad,they said something about Nor-" "Don't blame me for your mess!" I shout at him knowing what he was gonna say.
Pony looks at me with a shocked face while Darry starts lecturing him.
I feel Dallas lean in close to me.
"Is everything okay with y'all?" he whispers."I'll explain later" I reply "Ok."
The rest of dinner was quiet while Darry's still mad and Pony upset.
I felt Johnny tap my leg to get me to look at him."Look at Ponyboy" He mouths.I look at him for a second making it look like I was looking around.
He was about to cry.
