How'd you end up on the top of the Empire State Building, gazing out into the dark nights and admiring the skyline?
To answer that question, you had to go back so many years. It felt like forever since then...
Age 6...
"Hi, I'm Y/N," You smiled at the blue-haired, kinda cute boy who had taken a seat beside you and gave you a wide grin. "What's your name?"
"Fang," He introduced himself. "My name is Fang."
Your first friend in a scary new school, at the beginning of a bad year when your mom had died. Looks like luck was finally coming to your side.
Age 10...
"Go Fang!" You cheered for your best friend as he neared the finish line, looking like he was about to overtake the person in first place. You could've sworn he gave you his usual broad grin from on the track. And maybe your cheering had really pushed him to his best, because he flew down the track and won that day.
Later, he came to you cheering in the stands and whispered, "Thanks for your help, Y/N."
Then he kissed you on the cheek tenderly, and waved goodbye to you as he headed for the locker room.
Clutching your cheek tightly, you realised...there was something here that was hidden from both of you. But what?
Age 16...
"I...I have to...to go..." Fang said, tears trickling down his face as he called you from his phone. "I...I'm really sorry, Y/N...I tried to stop my father from sending me to Brawlywood, but he said I had to develop as an actor. I'm not worthy of our friendship..."With one last sob, he ended the call.
You felt your own tears roll down your cheek as you fell to your feet and whispered, "It...It can't end here. Not today, Fang."
Then you wiped your tears dry as you said steely, "I...I made you a promise, Fang, remember? I'm going to fulfil it."
<*~*>
"Fang!" You screamed, not bothering about the people nearby staring at you as you raced for his boarding gate, C17.
The blue-haired live of your live turned around and gasped, "Y/N?"
You pressed your lips against his and told him, "I made you a promise. I had to come for you."
Fang gave you a forced smile as he promised, "We'll see each other again, Y/N. I promise. Next year, we'll meet on the roof of the Empire State Building once again. That's where...we had our first dinner together...remember?"
Then his dad pulled him away from you, Fang's blue eyes heartbreakingly sad as he waved goodbye.
But this wouldn't be the last time you saw each other. You promised yourself that it wouldn't be.
Earlier this year...
"New movie star has arisen—Fang Christen, son of Amelia and James Christen, Brawlywood's most famous actors, has too Rosen to the limelight this year with his lead role in the new hit movie, Promise." You read from the daily newspaper.Promise. You hope Fang hadn't forgotten yours.
You certainly hadn't.
Hopefully he hadn't either.
Today...
But maybe he had. All around, numerous couples had reunited. But no sign of Fang anywhere—and you were supposed to meet here an hour ago."Did he really forget our promise?" You cried to yourself. "After so long...is he really not coming?"
"I didn't," A familiar voice said from behind you.
You whirled around, and found yourself staring into the piercing blue eyes you had always treasured so much.
"I'll never break our promise," Fang told me.
"Look, Fang, I need to tell you...something I never had the courage to say before." You decided to confess, before he left again. "You may already know it, but I just need to tell you...I love you."
"So do I," Fang grinned his signature grin that you had missed this past year.
And exactly one year after your last kiss...
The same thing happened.
A star was born then. A beautiful, shining love.
