*Long-ish chapter ahead 😉*

I was walking through the halls the next day at school before Alaric pulled me into his classroom. When I entered, Elena was there too. She looked pretty distraught. Maybe there was some kind of vampire outbreak again.

I give Alaric a confused look. My face relaxes while I try to think. Hopefully it doesn't revolve around what happened last night. Alaric and I already spoke about it, but I managed to convince him that I just had a migraine, nothing more.

I lean on a desk, Elena doing the same. I awkwardly shuffle over a bit, widening the gap between us. We hadn't really talked about last night, nor did I want to.

"So, what's this about Einstein?" I asked.

Alaric sighs and reaches into his drawer. He grabs out a hunk of paper. "I had Jeremy write a paper for me. I think you guys should take a look at it." He hands the paper to Elena. Her eyes widened, her mouth parted in realization. She passes the paper to me.

                                                                      Fact or fiction:

The Truth About Vampires in Mystic Falls.

I frown deeply. Why would Jeremy be writing about vampires?

"Jeremy wrote that?" Elena asked.

"He's very clear that he didn't think it was real."

"I really hope you're right. I've done so much to protect him from all this." She anxiously taps her leg.

I scoffed. "You call compelling him to forget is just a means of protecting him?"

"What else is there to do, Ang? I tried to keep you both out of this-"

"Really? Did you ask Damon to compel me too?" I snap.

"Girls." Alaric warns.

Hours after... that, I entered my room with a bowl of chips. The moment I open my door, the bowl of chips clatters to the floor and a yelp escapes my mouth.

"Damon, what the hell?!" I said angrily.

He lay on my bed with a devious smirk.

"Elena called me. Said something was up with Stefan, and I saw your door was open. So I thought I'd surprise my favourite girl."

I began to gather all the chips that fell on the floor. Elena called him? What was wrong with Stefan?

"Did you know your Uncle's been kickin' it with the Founders' Council?"

"What? Oh, that's just perfect! I was worried for a second that my growing list of problems was finally shortening." I put the bowl on my dresser. Uncle John always had a strained relationship with my family. I guess it won't change anytime soon. I just don't understand why he came back to Mystic Falls.

"I don't like him," I said.

Damon sits up. "Who?"

"John. I don't know what it is about him, but he just werids me out, y'know? He just has this suspicious feeling about him."

"Aw. Don't wear yourself out too much because he gives you some weird vibes." Damon says in a teasing tone. I hit his shoulder.

"Anyway, what's wrong with Stefan that Elena had you come over?" I asked.

"Well. She's worried about him. Same thing, different day. She fed Stefan some of her blood and he's... had some complications adjusting to having human blood again. He hasn't been the same since the farmhouse, Elena told me." He begins to walk around my room and touch everything.
