"Y/N, Jimin is trying to get your attention," said the bartender, Namjoon.

She turned to see that, indeed, the emcee was trying to beckon her over. Crap. She'd been caught in her own little world so much she hadn't even noticed any of the new customers.

"Sorry," she said, moving toward Jimin.

"Never mind, don't let it happen again. Taehyung has a friend in tonight. He wants him treated with respect and proper care."

"Why's he giving me the table? I thought Rachel got the good tables."

Rachel was another of the waitressing staff who'd been there a little longer than Y/N and knew what Taehyung wanted.

"Taehyung said that is your table and time to shine. I do what he says." Jimin passed her the menus and pointed in the direction of the table.

You can do this. This job isn't hard. You've just got to keep your wits about you, smile, and pretend nothing's wrong.

"Good evening. I'm Y/N, and I'll be your waitress for this evening," she said, smiling at the table. Her smile was frozen on her face as her eyes moved to Jungkook sitting on one side of the table. She had previously spotted the woman with the fake tits, heavily made-up face sitting opposite him.

"Y/N?" Jungkook asked, frowning.

"It's good to see you, Jungkook." She handed them both their menus and kept smiling. She held her hands in front of herself and kept acting by telling them the specials. "Now, is there anything I can get you?"

"No thanks, honey. We'll call you when we need you," the fake blonde piped up, taking over.Nodding her head, Y/N turned away without looking back at Jungkook. This was the hardest thing she'd ever done in her life. She went about checking her tables to make sure everyone was happy.

By the time she finished checking on her other customers, Jungkook was waiting."We'd both like your house's special red wine," he said. "Tell Taehyung I want a word with him."She nodded as she took the drinks menu off him, a bit sick. Was he going to tell Taehyung to fire her?

"I'll get your drinks and get Taehyung."

She told Namjoon the order and then headed back to the kitchen.

"Y/N, why are you back here without an order?" Taehyung asked.

"He asked to speak with you."

Taehyung glanced up from his fire-filled saucepan to her. "What?"

"Your special guest asked me to get you. He wants a word." Her palms were so sweaty with nerves. She actually liked the job more than anything. Y/N got to be around food, see how the restaurant worked, and also she got the chance to have some semblance of a life.

"Okay, tell him I'll be right out."

"Sure, sir."

She walked out with the red wine glasses, carrying them like an expert. "Here is your house's special red wine. Taehyung will be out shortly, and please let me know when you're ready to order."

Jimin had supplied the menus already, so she didn't have to worry about them. Ten minutes passed and she watched Taehyyng go to Jungkook's table. The two men moved away out of her sight.

"Are you okay?" Namjoon asked.

"Yeah, I'm probably going to lose my job."

Y/N tapped her fingers on the counter, watching the reflection of a woman primping her hair in the window that made it seem as though she knew what she was doing. Y/N's stomach began to churn with nerves and rising irritation at the sight.

Five minutes later, Taehyung reappeared and pulled her aside. "I want you to go back to my office."

"Am I fired?" Y/N asked, feeling the prick of tears at the corners of her eyes.

"No, you are not fired." He smiled, but rather than calming her down, it suddenly made her feel nervous. His smile was usually very rare and cold, and now it seemed almost menacing.

"I love this job," she blurted out as he escorted her toward his office, her voice trembling with desperation. "I mean, I love being here, the atmosphere, everything. Please, I don't want to lose it."

"Stop worrying," Taehyung said, his voice so calm, and steady, as he opened his office door and nudged her gently inside. "You've got nothing to worry about."

The door closed behind her, and she turned to find that Taehyung hadn't followed. Her heart thumped precariously in her chest as she turned to take in the sight of Jungkook, who was leaning casually against the desk, awaiting her. The room felt suddenly smaller, with thick air.

"Jungkook?" she whispered, her voice barely audible as she tried to make sense of what was happening. Jungkook took in the view of Y/N standing at the door, arms folded across her chest, and her slight stature contrasted with this posture. For two months now, she had been the only thing on his mind, and now her absence made his life a hollow routine.

He looked for her in all the familiar places where he used to find her, but she was not there. The panic had been unbearable when he couldn't figure out where she was.

He could have gone to her place, but he had wanted to give her space.

Of all places, the last he had expected to find her was in Taehyung's restaurant, serving as his waitress. But making it worse was the fact that it was while he was on a date with another woman—one he had used in the very first place to distract him from Y/N.

Y/N looked different—stronger somehow. The pain that used to cloud her eyes seemed to have lifted, and seeing her like this brought a mix of relief and regret.

"What are you doing here?" Jungkook asked lowly, his voice full of concern.

"Please don't get me fired," Y/N replied, her voice shaking but determined. "I am good at my job, and I like it here. This is way better than what I did before, and boy, am I learning so much."
