The morning sickness had already gotten the better of her, and Y/N could hardly restrain herself from vomiting over the baked goods she'd bought. That tempting smell of coffee now made her feel even more sick.

She knocked on Jungkook's door, her heart racing while she was waiting.

He answered, phone in hand, pausing mid-conversation when he saw her standing there. "I'll call you back." His deep voice softened as he hung up and focused on her. "Y/N."

She lifted the bag of baked goods and the coffee in a weak attempt to lighten the moment. "I brought you breakfast."

"Come in."

Stepping inside, Y/N took off her jacket, draping it next to his on the rack in the corner.

Jungkook peered into the bag, "This smells so good."

Y/N followed him into the room, her eyes tracing along the all-too-familiar curve of his back and strong frame as he moved toward the sofa, towards where they had spent night after night tangled in each other's arms, watching movies and feeling safe in the bubble that they had created for themselves.

The silence between them was thick and unbearable. He sat on the sofa, motioning for her to join him. "Was that call important?" she asked, trying to break the tension as she gestured toward the phone he'd slipped into his pocket.

"Not as important as you," he said softly. "Sit down, Y/N. We're not strangers."

She shifted on her feet, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "I can't sit. What I need to tell you, I have to do it standing up." She rubbed her temples, trying to garner the courage to speak as nerves began to get the better of her.

Get it out, Y/N. He needs to know.

"I lied to you the other day." She swallowed hard. "I told you I was on protection. but I wasn't. I was scared and things just happened so fast. I don't know why I lied."

Jungkook's gaze never once moved, an unreadable mask on his face.

"And now," she took a shaking breath, "I think I might be pregnant. I've been feeling sick in the mornings and it's getting worse."

His eyes stayed on her longer, the tension of her confession a heavy air between them.

"Do you really think you're pregnant?" he calmly asked.

"Yes, I think so," she said, almost in a whisper.

No words were spoken from then on. Jungkook stood up. "We will need to take a test."

"Wait, where are you going?" Y/N blurted out with surprise at his sudden action.

"I am going to the chemist to get a test." His voice didn't break, as he reached for his keys. "Please stay here. Don't run out on me."

"You're not angry?

Why would I be mad?" He leaned in, cradling her face between his large palms. "You were scared, and I get it. Our relationship has been anything but uncomplicated, but I'm not gonna be mad at you for needing time. This is huge for both of us." He leaned down and kissed her forehead softly, then her lips. "I'm just glad you finally told me.

She didn't get to answer him because he was already out the door. "I'll be back soon."

With the door closed behind him, the smell of the coffee again hit her, and her stomach lurched hard. She was at the sink in a flash, pouring the coffee down the drain, and sending the cup into the trash.

She tried to steady her nerves by cleaning his apartment, needing something-anything-to keep her hands busy. But she didn't dare step into the bedroom, the place where all of this had started.

You can do this, Y/N.

While the gnawing fear and uncertainty bothered her, a small voice in her couldn't help but ask whether she was with a baby from the man with whom she was deeply in love.

Standing in the pharmacy, Jungkook's hands shook a little as he picked up one pregnancy test after another. Each box seemed to be offering the same thing, yet he could not seem to figure out why there were so many. How difficult was it to tell if a woman was pregnant or not? Running a hand through his dark hair, he finally settled on the most simple and to-the-point-looking test.

Y/N could be pregnant with your child.

The thought thundered within his mind, unleashing fury upon every conflicting emotion. Only weeks before, the very notion that Y/N was pregnant burst within him in ways he never thought he could feel-an odd, almost joyful feeling. If she carried his child, then he would have an undeniably deep connection to her-one he was bound and determined to protect at all costs. He would be there for their child always, and he'd provide them both with all they could ever need. Y/N wasn't just any woman to him; she was that woman he had never fully claimed as his because of the feelings of his unresolved past.

He paid for the test and, with a quiet "thanks," amidst the cashier congratulating him with a warm smile, pocketed the test and went back to his apartment. His excitement about the situation now started balancing out with anxiety.

It was the joy that sparked inside him that was gradually turning into fear. Childbirth was still dangerous, and no matter how many advancements had been made, there wasn't a guarantee Y/N would be okay. The thought of something happening to her because of him-it was enough to drive him mad.

Stop thinking about the worst.

They needed to get through this first. If she was pregnant, he was going to marry her. Of course, that was a no-brainer for him now.

Entering his building, Jungkook stopped by the front desk. "Has anyone entered my apartment or tried to leave?"

The man at the door shook his head. "No, sir. Miss Y/N hasn't left the building."

Relief washed over him as he hurried back up to his apartment. Inside, he found her on her hands and knees scrubbing the floor.

"What are you doing?" he asked, suddenly filled with concern.

"I needed to clean. I couldn't just sit around waiting for you to get back," she said without looking up, her body moving rhythmically as she scrubbed. The slight sway of her hips made his heart clench; he was worried, though, and those feelings pushed the others out of his mind. He walked over to her, gripped her arm, and pulled her up onto her feet with a firm but gentle grip.

You could be pregnant, and you shouldn't be doing this. It could hurt you, or the baby," he said, firm but full of concern.

Y/N shook her head, brushing him off. "Don't be ridiculous, Jungkook. Pregnant women work all the time. We don't even know if I'm pregnant yet."
