Flower had just finished up on her work.

What sort of work, exactly? She'd rather not tell; she'd rather not even *think* about it, especially now that it was no longer relevant to her life. Well, at least for the time being. She's had to work, non-stop, for well over a decade to get to where she is now. She had to climb out of a proverbial hole, a *massive* one at that. She had to endure countless insults and mockery, people constantly overlooking her and wishing her dead, considering her as nothing short of the absolute *worst*. She had to fight her way through four whole seasons of the Battle for Dream Island, grappling with a hostile world that seemed to constantly attempt to end her life at every turn. She's laughed, she's cried, she's suffered, she's died. Many times over. Again and again. For *years*. Perhaps it was her world-famous self-centeredness and attitude towards herself doing the talking, but she *seriously* felt like she had gone through the *worst* out of any character in BFDI's history. She'd been through more pain, suffered more hardship, had her mind and body broken more times than anyone else. Ever.

Well, maybe except for Needle; but nobody cared about her, so Flower's *basically* the worst off.

And now, finally, *finally*, she could partake in the fruits of her labor. All those seeds she had planted so long ago, all the time and effort she spent proverbially watering and caring for them, shielding her hopes and dreams against the worst possible storms that one could ever possibly endure, they've all finally grown and matured, they've begun to bloom. She was able to turn her life around, she was able to get herself out of her rut. She was not only able to survive, but she was able to *thrive*. She would no longer be the first boot, she would no longer be the easy target, she'd no longer be the mean one. After so much time being disappointed and weakened, she was finally given her time to shine, to take in the sun, to photosynthesize. She was not only able to achieve much of her dreams, but also surpass them in ways that were completely unimaginable. She was able to start her fashion line, she was able to make some genuine friends, and she actually *won* a season of BFDI. After all this time, after this much struggle, she finally got the respect and adoration that she felt like she deserved.

And with that chapter of her life now done and dealt with, that left plenty of room for reflection; and in that reflection, time and time again there'd be a single question that would pop up: *Why*?

Everybody wants to be famous. Everyone wants to be popular. Everyone wants to be successful. But *nobody* ever wants to know why that is. Fame and fortune isn't exactly food, or water, or shelter, or the air they breathe. Popularity isn't something they *need* in order to live. That doesn't mean that the actual best course of action is to be like Golf Ball and remain miserable forever; just one look at the bossy-bot was enough to disprove that. But it's just like most things in the universe: it's only good in moderation. Shouldn't have too little, but *also* shouldn't have too much. And wanting to win an island or some other strange prize? That was *definitely* too much.

But none seemed to care about it *as* much as Flower had; well, except for Loser, but nobody *ever* dared to question him. She cared immensely about her image, about what everyone thought about her, if they saw her as 'beautiful'. And whenever anyone even voiced the slightest doubt towards those bold claims, she was more than happy to dispose of them in a violent manner. Everyone else has done that more than a few times, sure, but it was all in context; this is Dream Island they're talking about, and one has to do *everything* to win it. But Flower? She was doing all this for seemingly no reason. She was everything wrong with everybody taken to a whole new level.

And when the world rightly dealt with her, struck her down with all its might for being so pretentious, she never decided to leave, to find greener pastures. She just kept on coming back, kept on trying, kept attempting to please the same old faces. It ended up working in the end, but *surely* there was a point in time where it felt like it was never going to, where it felt like throwing in the towel was the better option. She had all the chances in the world to leave the Battle for Dream Island behind. Nobody and nothing was asking her to stay. And yet she did.
