Fanny was sitting on her own, as she was wont to do.

It was yet another stage of the Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two. The teams have been randomly shuffled around, and her old team, the P.A.C.T. she has stood firm with, for better or for worse... is still here. *Somehow*. Everyone else got randomly assorted into brand-new teams, every other group got split up in 2,763 different ways, and yet all the old members of the P.A.C.T., those that have managed to weather the storm and live until now, they all stick together. Including her.

And that's... *fine*. For the most part, anyway. Really, she should be thankful. A new team comes with new expectations, new obligations, new things to worry about. She'd spent so long competing *against* these other contestants, and so to suddenly do a 180 and have to work with them instead would be... a pain. She *hates* pain. Being with the same team through thick and thin, especially during these trying times, that *should* be a good thing.

But something about it just didn't sit right with her. Something about it was just... *off*. Again, every other team was split in one or two different ways. Everyone was rearranged seemingly at random, with basically no rhyme or reason as to why they were grouped with who they were grouped with. And yet, despite all the possibilities, despite all the different ways all the contestants could've been divided, they landed on one of the remote possibilities where one of the teams stayed intact. They've grown a few members, sure, but all the ones that were there from the start are still there. Even her. Why *is* that? She just couldn't quite accept it, it just didn't feel okay. The Battle for Dream Island has been nothing but pain, and suffering, and misery, and torture, all the way through. They've had to endure so much for so long, they've had to fight uphill battles, they've had to defend causes that were ultimately in vain. How come they were given this *one* saving grace? How come Death P.A.C.T. gets to continue fighting for another day, while the others have to deal with making new friends?

Speaking of which, what about those new teammates? Gaty and Pin seemed like reasonable enough people, and while they've had a rough start with Robot Flower, all of that suddenly seemed to go away after that last contest.

...That's another thing, really. They know a thing or two about what's been going on with that mechanical mind. They *had* to. If they want to prevent death, if they want to save lives, they need to know when people are at risk, and what or who are the ones most likely to cause or get caught up in that risk. They know that that metal flower has been a particularly sore troublemaker, always going around and ruining people's days. They've even got a first-hand account of it themselves. But they've *also* got a direct experience of how all of that suddenly came to an end in an instant. In one moment, she was being a *massive* pain to all of them, and in the very next, she was back to how she used to be.

Again, they really didn't wanna look a gift horse in the mouth. Her sudden change of heart means that they don't have to spend precious time and effort (and lives) into reforming her the hard way. They *really* didn't want to consider it. But just like with the P.A.C.T. staying together, it just seemed a little bit *too* convenient. Too much of a good thing. What's the catch? Was she gonna suddenly revert back to being evil, just like how she turned good? Was this just her pretending to be nice, wanting to ruin their days through other means?

The electric fan grumbled; she didn't want to think about it. She didn't want to think about *any* of it. That's not her job, after all. She's not the team leader.

And *speaking* of that, what's up with Pin? Well, maybe that's the wrong question; she seems like a perfectly reasonable, completely upstanding member of society. She... hated her slightly *less*. No, the real question is what's up with the others. She's fine, she's okay, but she's also a newbie. She doesn't have the tenure or reputation of any of the other death preventers. She may have a knack for leadership, but what's the point of that if she doesn't even know what she's the leader *of*?
