As soon as the words Zeus' mouth, Poseidon turned to him with a furious glare. Only for it to morph into a look of shock as his daughter levelled the King of the Gods with a storm-shattering uppercut. He could only stare as the strongest of his siblings was launched across the campground, not blinking until he landed with an earth-cracking thud.
Slowly, he turned from his groaning brother to his shaking daughter. The demigod was vibrating, arm still in the air, knuckles red. Hearing his brother's unwise insult towards Percy's mortal half, Poseidon had expected a reaction from his daughter, yet he could not have predicted its strength. He himself was prepared to come to Sally's defence (not that she needs to be defended) but was beaten to it.
Meanwhile, Percy ignored her father in favour of glaring down her uncle. If she hadn't been so blinded by her anger, she may have wondered how she'd managed to launch the most powerful god on Olympus. Instead, she let her rage take over, coursing through her veins.
The god at the other end of her glare groaned as he slowly sat up, holding his chin, face screwed into a dangerous mix of confusion and anger. Getting himself onto one knee, he glared back at the demigod, spitting at the ground, creating a small dent in the earth. He bit out, "You dare lay a hand on your King?" Hauling himself to his feet, Zeus tilted his head to each side, the subsequent crack reverberating through his body as he flexed all his digits, sparks returning. "You shall regret doing- "
"You insult my mother again, and I'll make you regret not getting eaten by your dad." Percy interrupted, refusing to listen. Her hands were now by her sides, mirroring the god across the Hearth. "I tried. I tried to take deep breaths, and I tried to do what Chiron taught me: not to give in to anger. But you didn't just cross the line; you flew over it and landed yourself in a pile of shit."
Zeus' face grew purple as he, too, vibrated. There were no theatrics. No storms, no clouds, and no thunder. Instead, he just let the lighting that churned inside him collect at his clenched fists. "I warn you, demigod. One more word, and I won't hesitate to put you down. No matter the consequences." With that, he glanced at his brother, whose anger at Zeus had been replaced with fear for his child.
"Please, Zeus, don't do this." Poseidon pleaded with his brother. He didn't bother trying to reign in Percy, knowing that no child of Sally Jackson would allow an insult to the goddess. The sea god's pleas fell upon deaf ears as the King turned back to the demigod threatening him.
Said god stared straight into the young woman's eyes, daring her to continue. His fists tightened as he spoke, "Clearly, you've been taking lessons from your brother on how to piss me off. You will suffer for his failure as a role model."
Something in Percy twisted violently at the words, instantly picturing the 4-year-old Estelle in his mind's eye. "What would you possibly know about being a good brother?" She spat at him. When the god's brows furrowed further, the half-mortal continued. "I will not be lectured by a failure of a husband, father, brother and King!"
Zeus' mouth moved into a vindictive smile, his right foot slamming forward as he got into a fighting stance, fists alive with the white-hot lightning. Without turning to the other god, he addressed his brother. "Let this one be a reminder to all of you and your children. There is a reason I am still the King of the Gods." Poseidon got into a similar stance, preparing to stop his brother from killing his daughter.
Getting into her own practised stance, Percy summoned water to pool at her feet. "You see my mortal half as a weakness. But my mother is the strongest person you'd ever have the fortune to meet." Slowly, she reached into her pocket- a movement so instinctive she'd literally done it in her sleep- and withdrew a pen.
Zeus' eyes widened as he caught sight of the unassuming pen, and his face grew even darker. He knew that pen. Knew of the innumerable number of monsters slain with it. The pen that had once belonged to Heracles. The pen that was the most feared weapon bar the tools of the gods. "Anaklusmos." The god let out a thunderous roar as all confusion left him, replaced entirely by violent rage. "JACKSON!"
