Ash stepped into his room quietly thinking about what he'd just done.

He'd defied his father's orders and tried to sneak out before being caught by his father.

He threw his bag onto the floor before kicking off his shoes. He flopped onto his bed laying on his back staring at the ceiling.

He needed to go to the forest badly. But he didn't want to break his father's heart while doing so. I mean yeah, they never really understood each other.

Ash likes to explore and discover new things; he always runs through the forest (Before encountering the Feralim) or draws illustrations of monsters he "saw". His father was always trying to teach him business and parts of history. He always found that boring all that talking and ancient text and just sitting while his father went on and on about something the Greeks did or how the effect of the printing press shaped the future.

He understands his father's only trying to do the best for him, but he couldn't stand all that talking. His mother wasn't even better. She worked as a teacher in a high school (Luckily not his) but she always insisted that she was the one helping him and that she knew better because she was a teacher.

One time he got a C for maths his mother made him revise everything he did in maths over the holidays. Who does that to a child!? It's child abuse!

Ash lay on that bed thinking back. He could feel his eyelids drooping down before shutting down fully.

The morning he arrived with a heavy silence in the Edwards household. Ash trudged downstairs for breakfast, the tension between him and his father palpable. His father barely acknowledged him, focusing intently on his coffee and newspaper. Ash glanced at the clock, he realized he had to get to school, though the burden of his mission weighed heavily on his shoulders.

Ash softly groaned as he got up to his room to change into his uniform. He hated his school uniform. The way he had to tighten the belt to the point he could feel it digging into his skin, so the pants wouldn't slide down to his waist making it hard to walk comfortably. How he can't roll up his jumper's sleeve since they itch and irate his skin, how he has to watch a video from 2013 on how to tie a tie every morning.
