Saturday morning greeted Giyuu with a muted light filtering through the curtains. He stumbled into the lounge, still half-asleep and adjusting to the new dynamics in the house now that Kyojuro had joined Shinobu and him. The presence of three angels in one space was something Giyuu was still getting used to, the subtle changes in their routines and interactions creating an odd new rhythm.
Shinobu was already up, moving about with her usual grace. She handed Giyuu a steaming mug of coffee, the rich aroma drifting up to his senses. "Good morning," she said, her tone as cheerful as ever.
Giyuu accepted the coffee with a grateful nod. "Morning, Shinobu. Thanks for the coffee."
Kyojuro was lounging on the couch, casually flipping through a magazine. He looked up with a wide grin when Giyuu entered. "Good morning, Giyuu! Ready for the weekend?"
Giyuu smiled faintly, still waking up fully. "I'm getting there. So, Kyojuro, what do you have planned for your date with Tengen?"
The mention of Tengen's name seemed to brighten Kyojuro's mood even more. He sat up straighter, his excitement evident. "Oh, we're going to this new Italian place downtown. I heard it's got the best pizza and pasta. We're going to try it out, then maybe catch a movie. Nothing too extravagant."
Giyuu nodded, trying to maintain a casual demeanor. "Sounds nice. I hope you both have a great time."
Shinobu, standing nearby, glanced at Kyojuro with a mixture of curiosity and concern. "You know," she said softly, "it's highly unusual for an angel to get involved with a mortal. The Laws are quite strict about it."
Kyojuro's expression grew serious for a moment, though he tried to mask it with a smile. "I understand, Shinobu. But the thing is, I've never had a past life as a human. I don't remember one. And as far as I know, angels who don't recall their previous lives are less susceptible to falling in love."
Giyuu's brow furrowed slightly, his thoughts racing. He had heard this reasoning before, but it didn't quite ease the weight of concern that Shinobu and Giyuu shared. The Laws were clear, and breaking them had consequences that none of them wanted to face.
Shinobu sighed, her eyes reflecting her worry. "It's just that... well, if you do end up developing feelings, it could be a problem. The Master won't be pleased if it interferes with our duties."
Kyojuro nodded, his gaze steady. "I appreciate your concern, but I truly don't believe it will be an issue. I'm focused on the present and on enjoying this time with Tengen."
Giyuu took a sip of his coffee, trying to offer a reassuring smile. "Well, if you're certain, then I hope it works out for you."
Kyojuro gave a grateful nod. "Thanks, Giyuu. I'm looking forward to it."
Shinobu gave Giyuu a knowing look as if to say that their concerns about Kyojuro's situation were far from over. Giyuu nodded in silent agreement, both of them understanding the delicate balance they were trying to maintain.
The conversation drifted to lighter topics as they continued their morning routine, but the underlying tension about Kyojuro's date lingered in the back of Giyuu's mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that the situation might lead to complications they were not yet prepared to handle.
As the morning went on, Giyuu mentally prepared for the day's events, his thoughts shifting between the delicate balance of their celestial duties and the personal lives they were trying so hard to protect.
Shinobu gave Giyuu a quick nod, reminding him to wish Sabito good luck at his baseball game. She then grabbed her purse and headed out the door to meet up with Mitsuri, Daki, and Makomo at the mall.
