Wednesday's breath hitches at her mother's gentle touch. Her heart flutters in her chest, and she feels a lump form in her throat. It's hard to articulate what she's feeling, a tumultuous mix of happiness, desire, and yes, fear. But if there's one person she can be honest with, it's her mother.
Wednesday takes a moment, gathering her thoughts before responding, her voice coming out in a quavering whisper.
"I...I don't know how i feel...its all so much," Wednesday admits, her gaze falling to the floor.
Morticia gently tightens her grip on Wednesday's shoulder, her thumb rubbing small, reassuring circles over her skin. She can sense the turmoil that's swirling within her daughter, the confusion and uncertainty that's causing her so much distress.
"Darling," Morticia says, her voice a soft murmur, "it's okay to be overwhelmed. It's okay to not know exactly how you feel. Love is a complicated and powerful emotion, one that often defies easy explanation." She continues, her voice gentle yet firm.
Wednesday feels a wave of relief wash over her as her mother's words sink in. It feels good to know that it's ok to be confused, ok to feel overwhelmed. She's never been very good at dealing with her emotions, often feeling like they're a weakness.
She takes a deep breath, her gaze meeting her mother's. "I just...I don't want to mess this up. I don't want to lose her, Mother." she whispers, the fear and uncertainty clear in her voice.
Morticia's heart clenches at the obvious fear and worry in her daughter's voice. She's always known that Wednesday struggles with her emotions, finding them both a strength and a weakness. And she knows how much her daughter cares for Enid, how deep her connection to her runs
Morticia lets out a soft sigh, her hand on Wednesday's shoulder growing firmer, more reassuring.
"Wednesday..." Her mother begins, her voice as soft as a gentle caress. "You won't lose her. Love is a resilient thing."
Wednesday feels a hint of bitterness rise in her chest as her mother speaks. Her thoughts immediately go to Ajax, the boy who had cheated on Enid with 4 other women.
She can't help but feel a pang of jealousy at his presence in Enid's life. He was always there, always with her, always trying to steal her attention away. And worst of all, Enid enjoyed his company.
Wednesday looks up at her mother, her voice betraying her bitterness as she asks. "What about Ajax? What he did was not a resilient thing."
Morticia's heart aches at the bitterness in her daughter's voice. She knows of Ajax, of his betrayal and the pain it caused Enid. She lets out a deep breath, her eyes meeting Wednesday's with a flicker of sadness.
"No, my dear, what Ajax did was not resilient love," Morticia says, her voice firm yet compassionate. "What he did was horrible and hurtful, and it shattered Enid's heart."
As Wednesday opened her mouth, her bitter words are cut off abruptly by the shattering of a nearby window. Her attention is immediately drawn to the source of the noise, her body tensing and her senses on high alert.
She looks at the shattered glass, her mind racing with the possibilities of who could have broken in.
Was it the stalker? Oh no. She had been so lost in her thoughts and feelings that she forgot that someone was stalking - following her.
A familiar silhouette appears, and the anger starts to wane, her mouth starts to curve upwards. "Uncle Fester?"
Morticia's expression shifts, a mix of surprise and relief as her brother-in-law, Fester, appears among the shattered glass. She wasn't expecting visits, not today of all days.
