Gomez smiles quietly as he takes one more look at his grandmother before he glances in the direction that his son is heading off to.
"Of course, grandmama," he replies, a gentle fondness in his voice as he speaks. He can't help but smile as he looks back to his grandmother and gives her a warm, loving smile as he leans in to give her a quick kiss on the cheek before he turns and walks off in the direction his son and wife is headed off to.
Gomez finds Pugsley walking down the hall, his shoulders slumped somewhat.
"Pugsley, my boy," he calls out to him, his voice slightly stern. He lets out a little sigh once Pugsley turns around to face him.
Gomez smiles at the sight of his beloved, "Can I have a word with Pugsley for a moment, Tish?"
Pugsley's head snaps up as he hears his father call out his name whilst Morticia gave him a knowing nod. He turns to face him, a sheepish smile on his face.
He nods nervously as he sees the stern look on Gomez's face. "Y-Yeah, sure. W-What's up, Dad?"
Gomez lets out a heavy sigh as he walks over to where Pugsley's standing, stopping just in front of him. He puts his hands on his hips, giving his son a soft but pointed look.
"I heard from Thing that blabbed out the details of Wednesday's private business to Enid."
Pugsley's eyes widen as he hears his father's words. He looks up at Gomez, his expression a mixture of surprise and guilt.
"I-I.... well... um...," Pugsley stutters, unsure of what to say now that he's been caught. He looks down at his feet, feeling sheepish and embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Dad..... I didn't mean to."
Gomez's expression softens a little as he watches Pugsley stumble with his words. He puts a hand on his son's head, ruffling his hair.
"I know you didn't, Pugsley. But you know that what you almost did would've been extremely cruel to Wednesday, don't you?" Gomez's tone is stern, but there's a hint of gentleness in there, too.
Whilst Gomez and Pugsley talked, Wednesday went to the woods to clear her mind. After all, the things happened to her were new and confusing for her.
The sun was beginning to set, casting long shadows through the dense forest. Enid paced back and forth outside the academy, gnawing on her lip as she glanced nervously at the edge of the woods. Wednesday had gone off on her own without saying a word, and it wasn't like her to just disappear - well, at least not without telling her first.
"Where is she?" Enid muttered to herself, feeling an uncomfortable tightness in her chest. After what had just happened between them, after their confession... Wednesday shouldn't be wandering off alone, right? Especially when they hadn’t even had time to process everything.
Unable to bear the thought of Wednesday missing, Enid made a decision. She darted toward the woods, her heart hammering as she navigated the winding paths that led deeper into the forest. She figured that Wednesday went to the woods. Was she really gonna go to the unfamiliar forest?
Of course.
Thing came along because Wednesday hadn't toured Enid outside of the gates.
before going out to the woods, she did one last search in the mansion until she had already searched at Wednesday's room and practically every inch of the manor.
She braced herself, going out through the backdoor with Thing on her shoulder. Enid moved with purpose, her keen sense of smell guiding her.
The latter stopped in her tracks before realizing that the gates were locked - a rusty padlock with practically moss in it.
Before she knew it, Thing climbed off and pulled the gate. Showing that the padlock was not even at the proper handle.
"Oh."
She began walking and It wasn’t long before she spotted her - a dark silhouette leaning against the trunk of a twisted, gnarled tree. Wednesday stood still, her arms crossed tightly over her chest, the usual cold mask of indifference replaced by a rare, fragile expression.
Enid slowed her pace, stepping softly so as not to startle her. That’s when she heard it.
Wednesday was muttering to herself, her voice barely above a whisper. "I don’t know if I can do this... what if I ruin everything?"
Enid's heart ached at the sound. She had never heard Wednesday sound so...vulnerable.
She took another step closer, her voice gentle but full of concern. "Wednesday?"
Wednesday stiffened but didn’t turn around. Enid stepped beside her, her bright eyes searching Wednesday’s pale face. She could see the tension in her girlfriend’s jaw, the way her lips were pressed into a thin line.
"I’m fine," Wednesday said coldly, but there was a slight tremor in her voice that betrayed her.
"Wednesday, no," Enid said softly, reaching out to place a hand on her arm. "You’re not fine. What’s going on? You’ve been... distant since we confessed. I’m not going to let you push me away."
For a long moment, Wednesday was silent, her gaze fixed on the darkening woods in front of them. Then, finally, she spoke, her voice quiet and laced with something Enid had never heard from her before: fear.
"I’m scared, Enid."
Enid blinked, taken aback. Wednesday Addams, scared? That wasn’t something you heard every day.
"I’ve never cared about anyone like this before," Wednesday continued, her tone controlled but her eyes betraying the storm within. "And I don’t know if I’ll be any good at it. I’ve spent my life pushing people away... and now, with you... I’m afraid I’ll mess this up. I don’t want to hurt you"
Enid’s heart softened, and she moved closer, wrapping her arms around Wednesday from behind, resting her chin on her shoulder. Wednesday stiffened for a moment but then slowly relaxed into the embrace.
"You won’t mess this up," Enid murmured, her voice gentle and filled with warmth. "You’re not alone in this. We’ll figure it out together, okay? You’re already a good girlfriend, Wednesday. You care, and that’s all that matters."
Wednesday was quiet for a long time, her dark eyes staring ahead as if searching for something in the shadows. Then, ever so softly, she leaned back into Enid’s embrace.
"I don’t deserve you," she whispered.
Enid chuckled softly, tightening her hold on her. "I think you deserve the world, Weds. And you do, deserve me."
Wednesday tilted her head slightly, her expression unreadable but her hand slowly reaching up to cover Enid’s.
"I suppose I’ll allow you to stay, then," Wednesday said, her voice dry but laced with affection.
Enid smiled, pressing a soft kiss to Wednesday’s cheek. "Good. Because I’m not going anywhere."
And with that, they stood together, wrapped in each other’s warmth, the darkness of the woods no longer so daunting with each other by their side.
