"I'm sorry."

Alex's words hung over McCullough like a storm cloud as she sat behind the wheel of her car. She looked in the rearview mirror, realizing her tears had caused her eyeliner to run down her cheeks. As she wiped the makeup from her face, she replayed the moment Alex walked out of their closet, leaving her and what they were sharing behind. McCullough struggled to understand, as only a few days earlier, Alex told her their relationship was real. She had never felt so much love for anyone in her life, and she wasn't ready to give up on it.

McCullough started her engine and left the prison parking lot. At first, she didn't where she was going, she just drove. She knew what she wanted to do. She wanted to confront Piper, to tell her that it was time to end her charade of a marriage with Alex. Yet, she knew that wasn't the best idea. She found herself at a bar,not far from Piper's apartment. After quite a few drinks, her judgement went out the window. She paid her tab and drove to Piper's place, though she was still uncertain of her next move.

The car came to a stop on the curb outside the apartment. McCullough sat in her car for about 20 minutes, trying to talk herself out of doing anything crazy and stupid. Then, she spotted Piper on the sidewalk. She was dressed to the Nines, and she was not alone. A beautiful redhead was at her side, and few moments later, the redhead was kissing Piper. McCullough's blood boiled at the very sight of what she watched. She couldn't believe Piper was cheating on Alex.

McCullough watched as the redhead kissed Piper on the cheek. Once the redhead had walked away, McCullough opened her car door. That was the final straw. She had to give Piper a piece of her mind before she lost it entirely. Yet, McCullough paused. There was a tiny voice in her head. "Don't. Don't go through with this. It's a terrible idea. Alex would never forgive you if you went after her wife. You have to find a different way." Reluctantly, McCullough shut her car door. She started her engine, choosing to listen to that little voice of reason inside her.

It was nearly impossible to suppress her bad temper, especially given the alcohol in her system, but she somehow managed to do it. She drove home to her crappy apartment instead, where she lit a cigarette. Through tears, she smoked most of the cigarette and, sadly, put the smoldering ashes out on the creamy skin of her thighs. "It can't be over. It can't be" she desperately thought "I have to talk to Alex."
