"Argh!" Joe could be seen being flung backwards by the scarl, he had several cuts and bruises on his skin and his crimson eyes had a glint of deep malice as he coughed up some blood and gritted his teeth, the scarls grin only got wider as it approached Joe.
"Get away from him!" Samantha screamed as she came out from the side trying to tackle the scarls to the ground only to get grabbed in the neck and lifted into the air like she weighed nothing.
Jim watched, and kept watching, a teardrop falling from his face.
'why... Why would you do this?... What am I doing?, I can help, I can... WHY DO I HAVE TO BE SO WEAK!!!' Jim cried uncontrollably.
'Stop!, Someone, anyone just make it... '
*CRACK!*
The scarl cracked her neck before ripping her completely in two.

SILENCE!
"YOU BASTARD!!!, I'LL KILL YOU!!!" Joe roared as he got up on his feet his entire body turning solid steel as he charged forward towards the scarl who gave Joe a solid roundhouse kick completely shattering his chest forcing him to revert back to normal before grabbing his head.
"Weak..." The words left the scarls mouth in a deep gutral voice.
*POW!!!* The scarl crushed Joe's head like a balloon letting his lifeless body drop to the ground painting the ground with a shade of red.
'No... No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, NO!!!' Jim thought as he looked towards Amy she seemed to have passed out long ago, his body felt drained, everything was spinning, his eyes were red from crying he saw everything get a shade darker his conciousness was slipping and he fell to the ground his gaze which had been reduced to slits rested on his mother's pale lifeless face as the words of the scarl echoed in his mind.
"Weak..."
Then his eyes closed.

"Has it begun?"
"Yes Lord."
A conversation was being held between two shadowy figures.
"Good, I want to see her here when this is all over... Joe, you had this coming sooner or later."
*** *** ***
'Huh?' Jim thought as he slowly opened his eyes and saw a white ceiling.
He usually had nightmares, but this was kinda overkill.
'Scarls invading Afixanne? Yeah right. Why is my ceiling white though?' Jim thought as he tried to get his bearing then he noticed a beeping sound beside him. When he turned to look, he saw Amy sitting on a chair beside him with her head rested on his bed, she stirred before waking up. As she looked up and saw Jim, her eyes which were bloodshot widened with shock.
"You're awake!, He's awake!" She announced with a joyous expression on her face.
'whats with the reaction?' Jim thought.
A nurse walked in soon after holding a datapad.
On seeing the nurse, his confusion grew.
*Where's mum?" He asked Amy.
On hearing that question, her previously joyous expression dropped as her bloodshot eyes watered.
"YOU FOOL! MUM AND DAD ARE DEAD! DEAD! AND ALL YOU CARE ABOUT IS A STUPID BIRTHDAY!? AN ABILITY?! IF NOT FOR YOU THEY WOULDN'T HAVE DIED IN THE FIRST PLACE! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT YOU COULDN'T EVEN PROTECT THEM! YOU'RE TOO WEAK!!!" Amy blurted out in rage as she stormed out of the room a trail of tears on her cheeks.

Amy had called him a lot of names, but never had she called him weak, she knew how sensitive he was about that word, Jim's life was shattered. His only solace in this cruel world has left him. Now he would have to battle the darkness alone. No parents, no Amy. His life was looking more and more of a nightmare by the second.
'too weak. ' those words resounded in his head like a bell.
'she's right, I'm too weak, I couldn't protect my own parents, I couldn't protect my family...' The thought of the grinning scarl appeared in his mind again making him grit his teeth in rage.
'I promise you mum, dad, I'll kill them, I'll kill every single last one of them! Even if it's the last thing I do.' With a silent rage building up in his heart, he made a promise one that he planned on fulfilling.
"My condolences Mr Oscar, please pardon your sister, she has not really been stable since the incident, she's still recovering from the shock and is currently seeing a therapist." The nurse who walked in a few minutes ago finally spoke up, Jim looked up at her with a blank expression.
"Thank you, but where exactly am I?" Jim asked in a strangely calm tone.
" You're at the military academy sir, you were supposed to come here by the end of the year but due to the incident, we brought you and your sister in." The nurse explained.
He knew of the military academy, it was a school that was as large as a small city, government funded and one of the best schools for ability users, students who graduate from the military academy with high standards get to choose whether to join the military or to join a family.
Families are a unique set of people who unlike others, pass their innate ability to their offsprings, families are usually a powerful force some even had enough strength to rival the government, however the families didn't grow strong by their family members alone along the way they would accept promising people of great strength regardless of the ability not anyone could join a family, as joining a family means being adopted or getting married to someone from the family.
A FEW MINUTES LATER...
The nurse had explained to him everything that he needed to know about the Academy and has given him a ring stating that it was his parents will. He wasn't confused though he recognized it to be a storage ring. She also gave him some contact lenses stating that every student in the academy had one, it contained all the information he would need in the academy including your rank, thankfully it was hidden even if it wasn't, Jim couldn't care less at this point, he couldn't help but think the kind lady was more than a nurse since she was the one giving him all this information, in the end, he found her name to be Flora, he collected all the items and walked out of the clinic stepping out, he brought up the map and got ready to face the world ahead of him.
