Chapter 4: False Courtships

The moment they entered Juliet's designated room, they found Natalis standing by the window as if she had been waiting for them to arrive.

"Natalis! Where have you guys been?" Cruel asked with a raised brow. He stepped forward, approaching his fellow Lawsin.

The redhead turns around, her face seemingly pale. "Oh, Cruel... and Your Highness," She greeted with a gauche smile. "We had just returned as well. I was told to wait for you and the Princess here."

"Natalis... is something wrong?" Cruel muttered, his amber eye glinted with regard for his comrade.

Instead of answering, the redhead glanced at Princess Juliet. Meanwhile, the monarch was silent as usual. Before Natalis could open her mouth to finally speak, the huge, wide door suddenly flew open, inevitably cutting off her speech.

"Ah, sis. There you are, at last." Prince Saga spoke grandly, raising his arms open. "What took you so long? I was starting to worry." Still wearing that casual smirk on his charming face.

Cruel immediately noticed the giant person standing behind the 3rd Prince.

"Everything was alright, dear Saga," Princess Juliet responded with a small smile while her eyes traced the individual behind her brother.

Saga chuckles, "What's the matter? It's not like you don't know this big girl." He shrugged, walking past Juliet to take a seat. "Natalis, introduce your new friend to Cruel."

Natalis's shoulder quivered for a second, "Yes, Prince Saga." She clears her throat after approaching the giant person wearing silver armor. "This is Jawless, the 3rd Prince's anointed Knight."

The knight takes off their helmet, revealing their grotesque face. With only a grunt, Jawless responded. The giant appears to be a woman with short, umber hair. She towers over everyone with her muscular figure, but her most prominent feature is her missing jaw.

"Beautiful, isn't she?" Saga proudly stated. "Jawless is a descendant from the giant race, that's why she's taller than all of us in this room." He adds while looking at Cruel with a playful smile.

A giant... is she the reason why Natalis seemed nervous just now? Cruel pondered while staring at Jawless.

"She was gifted to me when I turned 7. And she was already huge by then." He revealed while crossing his legs. "Before I knew it, Jawless had turned into the bigger giant she is now." The Prince continued his story, while everyone stood by to listen.

Juliet turns around, taking a seat in front of Saga. "Jawless was here before you arrived?"

Hearing her question, Cruel glances at Natalis, searching her emerald eyes for answers. However, his fellow Lawsin seemed to avoid his gaze.

Something's wrong with Natalis, Cruel thought.

"That's right," Saga nodded. "She was here to gather intel. So relax, sis." The Prince stood up, making his way behind Juliet's seat. "I wouldn't let you marry that arrogant human." He leaned down to whisper in her ear as he placed a hand on her shoulder.

Juliet doesn't flinch, "Dear brother, you aren't forgetting we are in the company of our human allies as well." She gazes at him over her shoulder, still giving him a gentle smile.

"Why would our friends be offended?" Saga scoffed and stepped away from Juliet. "I'm merely referring to Prince Ariez, after all." He crossed his arms as he turned his back to everyone else.

Natalis and Cruel looked at each other, wondering what was on their minds.

"You're right." Juliet simply nodded while her eyes followed her brother's every move. "What are you planning, Saga...?" Softly, she asked.
