Deep breaths, Cruel whispered to himself. He crosses his arms, trying to relax inside the carriage. The ride is quite rough and he's been sitting in silence for a few hours now.
Not that he minds, of course. But to Cruel, the entire journey was another boring task.
When will I get to fight? That's better than staying here, the young man wondered.
While he rambled inside his head, Cruel glances at Princess Juliet. She doesn't seem to move much from her seat or even say anything. She's just blankly staring at the ground. If not that, she'd be closing her eyes throughout their journey.
Cruel couldn't help but let out a brief sigh, "We should find an inn soon. Her Royal Highness needs to rest properly." He spoke to the coachman in charge of their journey.
"That is unnecessary. I am not yet weary, please keep moving." Juliet opened her eyes and spoke firmly.
The young man's brows furrowed closer. "Princess, it's best to rest now while we're still near your kingdom borders. Once when we're deeper into the enemy's territory, it won't be as safe." Cruel reasoned out with Juliet.
"But I am alright." Princess Juliet insists, however, Cruel was not having it.
"That won't do." Without a second thought, he said no. "I'm not just in charge of your safety. I have to look after your amenity too." He spoke earnestly, leaving no room for refutations.
Juliet looks stumped. In her mind, she questioned, is this man refusing me?
The royalty takes a deep breath before speaking, "Do you think I'm fragile?"
"Is that a bad thing?" Cruel asked in return, meeting her somber blue eyes.
"I am the one asking questions," Juliet responded, reasserting her authority as the princess.
The young assassin falls silent for a minute. "You're not fragile, Your Highness," Cruel placed a hand on his left chest. "But I must treat you like you are glass. I can't afford to break you, or even stain you." With a solemn tone of voice, he answered Juliet.
She found herself silent, mulling, in the end, it's all about duty.
As their short discussion ended, both Cruel and Juliet quietly sat in the carriage until they arrived at the nearest inn.
Once they reached their first stop, Cruel stepped out of the wagon. Immediately, he offers a supporting hand to Princess Juliet, helping her down.
The young man took care of everything, ensuring that the monarch he was guarding would have the most comfortable room available.
"Rest as much as you want, Your Highness." Cruel bowed as he escorted Juliet to her room. "As expected, just call my name if you need me. I'll be right here." He speaks in a formal tone.
Before she stepped inside the room, she turned around to look at her young companion. "You... should rest as well," Juliet muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
For the first time, Cruel saw a more benevolent side to the seemingly perfect monarch.

My hips are getting sore, Natalis grumbled to herself. She gazes at Prince Saga's back, riding his horse ahead of her. A streak of sweat runs down her forehead, but she has no choice but to keep moving along.
The 3rd Prince glances over his shoulder, noticing his companion falling further behind.
"Are you tired, my human friend?" Saga asked as he slowed down, allowing Natalis to catch up to him. His tone, however, sounded a bit razzing.
