The next morning, Tyler woke up in an empty bed. He thought back to the previous night and smiled. He was happy that even though they fought, they still made it up to each other. When he packed his stuff up and headed downstairs he didn't see anyone; so he walked outside and put his bags in the backseat of his truck and looked around. Finally seeing Kathy feeding the cows. He waved and smiled as she did the same, she then pointed towards the barn; confirming his suspicions.
---
Jaymes looked up when she heard boots coming up the staircase.
"He didn't think you could get rid of me that easily, did you, Darlin?"
She smirked playfully at him. "Mhm, maybe."
Tyler continued to walk towards her while smirking. "Yeah, I don't think that's going to work." His hands drifted down to the waistline on her Wrangler jeans. He studied her appearance; Wrangler jeans, a skin tight, rust colored long sleeve, a pair of boots. Her hair was in a loose braid with parts of the front falling down to her face.
"Whatcha doing?" She smiled at him.
"Enjoying the view. What about you?"
She laughed and looked back at her notebook and computer she took from Tyler. "Is that my computer?"
"You'd be totally fucked if someone broke into your house. And you're a heavy sleeper."
She turned her back to him and walked over to her work table. She sank into his touch once more as he came at her from behind, his face close to her ear and his hands on her waist again. Completely trapping her.
"That's not very nice." He whispered.
"What are you gonna do? Punish me?" She smirked.
"Y'know, I don't think that's a bad idea."
"It's unfortunate that we have tornadoes to kill."
"Tornadoes can wait."
She turned around to face him again. "No, they can't."
He sighed and looked at her while pouting. "You're no fun."
---
After about another hour, they both walked out of the barn, heading towards Tyler's truck.
Kathy watched them from the end of the stone path leading to their house."Please, don't do anything stupid."
Jaymes walked up and hugged her. "You know I won't."
"And be careful." She said sternly.
Tyler came up beside Jaymes, "careful are our middle names."
James ran back to the barn to grab a notebook she forgot. "Just give me one second."
Tyler nodded and looked back at Kathy.
"You return my daughter in one piece, or I swear to God-"
"Yes, ma'am."
"Kathy." She corrected.
"Right. Oh, this is for you." He held out a shirt for her to take his Jaymes came jogging out of the barn.
She held the shirt out and looked at it. "Mhm, interesting, thank you."
He smiled, "You're welcome."
She shrugged when Jaymes looked at her while getting into the truck. Tyler soon followed her. Jaymes blew her mother a kiss as they drove away, a trailer full of absorbent attached to them.
---
"All right what about these two little ones? Just west of Eaton?" Tyler asked, pointing to a storm on the radar on his screen.
"Yeah, but this one to the east has the sky all to herself." Jaymes said innocently, repeating her words from days earlier.
"Ha, ha, I'm not falling for that again." Tyler said as a small smile appeared on his face.
Jaymes shrugged and looked ahead once more. "Suit yourself."
"You serious?"
She smirked, "Tell you later."
---
"The point is steady, windshear is good. Holy shit! Oh my God, the whole updraft is rotating. Holy fuck!" Jaymes yelled as they stood before tornado, a camera in her hands while Tyler did goofy dance moves beside her.
"Oh, look at those straight lines! It's low precept! Oh, she's beautiful." Tyler cheered while Jaymes took pictures.
"She's gorgeous!" Jaymes added as Tyler faced her, taking in the other thing he thought was beautiful.
"It's going to give us something!" C'mon!"
They both sprinted back to the truck, slimming the doors in excitement.
---
"Alright, let's harness up." Tyler commanded as he drove straight towards the tornado.
"Woah, kinky."
He looked at her and smirked. "Oh, I'm just getting started."
She laughed and looked forward again.
"It's calling for an EF1, we got extra weight on the chacy, we got anchoring down two feet, don't worry, I'm a professional." Tyler said teasingly.
"Yeah, a professional asshole."
"Hold on!"
They drove into the small tornado as Tyler narrated everything.
"Deploying anchors. Here she comes!"
His hand hovered over a button that was labeled, 'Jaymie's Barrels'
"Now!" His hand pushed the button and the absorbance flew into the air as Jaymes watched with a hopeful eye.
She began cheering when the tornado passed, thinking it would work.
They both got out and looked. Jaymes wore a disappointed look on her face.
"It's not working."
They watched as a tornado continued on, meaning their experiment failed.
Tyler turned to her, "You hungry?"
---
"What if it's the model that's the problem?" She asked as she swallowed part of her sandwich.
"How do we create a better one?"
"I have an idea, but it's not going to be here until tomorrow."
"So, we retreat?"
She nodded as they got off the truck's roof and headed back home.
---
When they pulled in again, they grabbed the notebooks and computers and walked into the barn.
Jaymes put her stack down and turned around abruptly, now facing Tyler.
"What?"
She leaned in and kissed him slowly, and passionately. Leaving him hungry for more.
"We got time to kill."
