Adelaine held the warm mug half filled with coffee in her hands allowing the heat to comfort her as Five told them the story of how he got stuck in the apocalypse. She remembered the day so clearly but had never known where Five went. Or more accurately when.

His voice wavered slightly as he told them of certain parts but he never showed any emotion on his face. Neither her or Vanya had interrupted him, allowing him to get it all out of him taking time between parts whenever he needed it.

"I survived on scraps. Canned food, cockroaches, anything I could find" Five let out a small chuckle making Adelaine furrowed her brows slightly confused as to why he was laughing "You know that rumour that Twinkies have an endless shelf life" the girl nodded "It's total bullshit"

Adelaine shrugged softly "They've always tasted shit" she joked softly before getting back to the main subject "I just can't even imagine what you went through" she said.

Five wasn't making a big deal out of it as he sat cross legged with his coffee "You do whatever it takes to survive or you die. So we adapted. Whatever the world threw at us,we found a way to overcome it."

"We?" Vanya asked, slightly confused just as Adelaine was. She assumed Five spent all that time alone but then when she thought back to earlier he had mentioned a person named Delores. Maybe she was with him.

Five completely ignored Vanya's question and held up his now empty mug "You got anything stronger?" he asked. Vanya nodded and got up going through to the kitchen while the two teens followed her.

She poured a small amount of what appeared to be whiskey into a glass and handed it to Five who took a sip before handing the glass to Adelaine who finished it off. He noticed the way Vanya was looking at him and scoffed "You think I'm crazy. What about you?"

He turned to Adelaine who was still holding the now empty glass. "I believe you, don't worry. I guess it might just be a lot to process" she said, referring to Vanya with her final words making Five turn back to her.

"Exactly what don't you understand?" he asked her in a slightly condescending tone. He obviously didn't understand that all his siblings didn't fully grasp the details of time travel. Adelaine was just glad she read all those books after his disappearance.

"Why didn't you just time travel back?" Vanya asked him.

Five scoffed and then sighed at the question "Gee wish I'd thought of that. Time travel is a crapshoot. I went into the ice and never acorn-ed" Adelaine remembered their father telling him something exactly like that the morning he left "You think I didn't do everything in my power to get back to my family?"

The girl next to him reached an arm out to rub his shoulder gently "It's okay, you're here now" she attempted to give him some sort of comfort if that was possible. Although it seemed to work as Five relaxed slightly under her touch.
