When they finally arrived back at the Academy they headed straight up to where their old rooms were still hand in hand. Five had told her he was needing to map out the equations of different possibilities that my help with the prevention of the apocalypse.
As they were walking past Klaus's room Adelaine peered her head in as she heard a faint scratching sound. She noticed Klaus stood there scratching his back with a sigh.
Five gave her a small nudge with his arm and nodded his head down to the ground signalling her to look down as well. When she did she saw bloody footsteps on the white tile floor leading from the bathroom to Klaus's room. "What the hell?" she muttered softly to Five.
The boy could hear the worry in her voice so gave her hand a small squeeze before he took a step into Klaus's room. He knocked his fist on the door to announce their arrival causing the man to turn.
He offered Adelaine a small sad smile which she returned before Five asked "You okay?" he asked in a voice Adelaine only really use with her when he was trying to comfort her.
"Hey" Klaus sighed softly almost as a whisper as he shrugged on a t-shirt "Yeah, I just....long night" he answered them although he struggled to find the words.
Adelaine could tell however that Klaus wasn't telling them the truth "Are you sure?" she asked "We can help you if you want. You know that right?"
The man nodded as Five chuckled making Adelaine raise a brow confused at what could be so funny "Well to me it looks like more than one night" It was when Klaus stretched up that she noticed something jangle around his neck.
She got a closer look and noticed something she hadn't seen Klaus wearing before "Where did you get the dog tags? I like them" she asked making Klaus sigh.
His hand went to them and he held the two tags together looking down at them sadly "Yeah thanks they belonged to a friend" he dropped them letting them hang around his neck.
As they continued to look at him Five noticed something else "How about that new tattoo?" he asked. When Klaus shifted his arm Adelaine also noticed the new tattoo he had gotten.
It was a large skull at the top of his arm where his shoulder was but Adelaine couldn't see all of it because of his t-shirts sleeve covering the top half. "You know, I don't totally remember even getting it. Like I said it was a long night"
This is again how Adelaine knew he was lying. The pain of getting a new tattoo the night before would be horrible even if Klaus was high. She knew from the experience of when they all got their umbrella tattoos right in the middle of their forearms.
When she turned to Five she saw him grinning wildly at Klaus "You did it, didn't you?" he asked but as Five could be he wasn't clear in what he was asking him about.
Not only was Klaus confused but so was Adelaine "What do you mean?" she asked to Five before turning to Klaus "What did you do?"
He shrugged clearly not knowing himself so both turned to Five for an answer "You know, I can recognise the symptoms Klaus" he told him taking a step forward.
