Shun sat numbly on the chair while the policewoman questioned him. Asking where and how he found the body, like it mattered. Nothing mattered anymore, not to him. Akane kindly offered to show the police where it was, since he, well, didn't want to see it anymore. And Ruby... Ruby was pretty sad about it herself.

But Shun didn't have the energy to question Ruby's sadness, because his husband is dead. After years of denying it, the truth finally came out. He is dead. Has been dead. Alone for so long. God the thought of it makes Shun's eyes water.

Kana and the rest arrived at the police station soon after his interrogation, the girl rushing over to wrap her brother in a tight hug. Shun didn't have the energy to hug her back, he was not okay.

He doesn't know how long he has been inside the police station; all he knows is that it was long enough for Kana to fall asleep on his shoulder.

He can feel Aqua glancing at him from time to time, but he keeps his gaze ahead of himself. Looking at Aqua hurt because, in those eyes, he could only see him, the one he found today, behind a shrine. Man, how awful that sounds.

Shun glances towards the door of the police station when hearing it open, and his heart nearly stops when he sees who exactly stepped in. 'Mom?'

A short woman enters the building with a taller man by her side, they look confused as to why they are there. Shun's eyes widen at the sight of them, but his eyes aren't the only ones wide with shock. Aqua nearly let out a gasp when seeing the pair, his mother-in-law and father-in-law. Sweet people who accepted him into their family without a problem. They look older...well, of course, they do.

She's the only motherly figure that he had in his past life, besides his grandma. And of course, his husband's father, the only fatherly figure he ever had. He's happy to see them both alive and healthy.

As if on cue, the police officer who interrogated Shun walks out of the door that leads further inside the building together with Ruby, who sits down with a blank look next to Aqua and Akane, her blonde guardian rushing over to her side in a hurry.

When seeing that the old pair arrived the police officer walks over to them. 'Why did you call us, miss?' the familiar voice of his mother enters his ear, the softness of it making Shun's heart swell. He wants to rush over and hug her, tell her that he's her son, her boy. But he can't. 'Did we do something wrong?'

The police officer clears her throat as she gives them a look of sympathy. 'I'm sorry, but a body was found today.' she says sweetly, trying to bring the news to them gently. 'And you're the only relatives or family we could call to.'

She turns to the rest of the group, who listened closely, besides Kana, who is sleeping soundly. 'We've found a credit card in the corpse's belongings. The victim's name is...'

'...Gorou Amamiya.'

Shun breathes in sharply as soon as his mother gasps, a muffled sob following suit. '...Gorou Amamiya?' the woman cries out as her husband rubs her back with a troubled look, it looks like he already expected it to be him. 'Oh, no! It can't be!'

Aqua grimaces as he looks down at his lap, the woman's cries entering his ears as they go straight to his heart. 'I'm so sorry, ma'am.' the officer says, eyes full of pity. Shun can't stand the sight of his mother crying; he can feel his own eyes water too.

The boy stands up, waking up Kana in the process. 'Uhm..' he mumbles as he walks closer to the couple. Aqua's eyes snap over to him as the couple look over. 'I was the one who found the body...' he says while giving them a small nod. 'I'm so sorry for your loss.'

The woman stares at his face and gives him a sweet smile through her tears. 'Oh, dear, I'm sorry it must've been a horrible sight to see.' she says while slowly walking closer to wrap her arms around him for a warm embrace. Shun bites down on his bottom lip to stop himself from letting out a cry, his tears were bad enough.
