"So you had powers over fire, but it wasn't magic?" Questioned Skylor as they continued talking.

"Yeah, well, as far as I know."

"How is that possible?"

"It's hard to explain," Kai replied, mulling over how to explain to Skylor.

"And is this a common thing?"

"No. Not really. It's very much a bloodline sort of thing. Unless a master dies without passing on their element. Then it goes to someone random."

"Who do you know who has these powers? Are any of them people I'd know here?"

"Oh yeah. Actually, you yourself have powers."

"Really?" Skylor exclaimed. "What are my powers?"

"You're the master of Amber. Which means you can absorb other people's powers by touching them and then use those powers yourself. It's pretty cool."

"That sounds incredible. It's a shame I can't do that here."

"It is. I miss my powers. It may sound weird, but I'm kinda cold." Kai leaned back and sighed.

"You're cold?" Skylor questioned.

"Yeah. Because of my powers, I tended to run rather hot. But here, I'm just a normal body temperature, and I'm not used to that."

"Really? That's very interesting. Did anyone else have their powers affect their body like you did?"

"Well, Cole is just naturally very strong because of his powers, but I don't know about anyone else."

"I see," Skylor said with a hum.

She then looked out the window at the dusk sky.

"Oh my, we've been talking longer than I had thought. I must be getting home. It was wonderful talking to you. Next time, I'm going to bring a friend of mine. I think you'll like her."

Kai smiled.

"Can't wait to meet her. Safe travels."

Skylor exited the room with a wave and a shout of "I will!"

Kai was alone for what he thought to be the first time since Jay had fetched him that morning.

Had it really only been a day?

It felt so much longer, yet so much shorter than that.

What was he going to do?

Was time still passing back home?

Were his friends and family searching for him?

He could only imagine how worried they might be if that was the case.

How long would he be stuck here?

This world was nice and all, but he wanted to go home.

He knew Zane was searching for a way to get him home, but how long would that take?

He stood up and left the room. He needed to take a walk.

He walked around the castle aimlessly for a while.

He gazed at fanciful portraits, inspected skillfully crafted tapestries, marveled at grand windows, and looked upon at all the grandeur of this castle.

He was lost.
