𝟝. Get out

  THE SOUND OF SOMEONE knocking on the door woke Valerie up. She checked the time, she was asleep for almost four hours.

"VAL! Are you in there?"

JJ.

"Val, please open the door."

Valerie got out of bed and walked to her front door. JJ's figure was visible through the glass frame. She hesitated before opening the door, knowing the consequences if she got caught. She unlocked the door, opening it just enough for him to see her.

JJ's face fell as soon as he saw her. "Val, are you okay?"

"No JJ. I'm not okay." She pulled his arm and yanked him inside before slamming the door shut, worried the Kelce would have driven by. As soon as he was inside the house, JJ started pacing around the room.

"Look Val. We couldn't come get you, Rafe he-" he took a deep breath from all the talking.

"I know, it's fine." She interrupted him. "And I don't give a damn what he did." She was angry. So angry. "If it wasn't for him I'd be dead from blood loss."

He looked at her with a guilty expression. "We shouldn't have let you drink so much." He looked down, obviously mad at him self. "Val, you don't understand how sorry we are."

"I don't want to have this conversation with you." She folded her arms. "And why do you even care? I always get left out of everything that you guys do."

"Then come with us. Please." He stepped closer to her. "I promise it won't happen again. John B got arrested, I tried to get him out but my plan didn't work, everything's gone to shit."

"Wait what." She frowned. "John B got arrested, when?"

"Just after the day we got back, don't feel guilty though, it's our fault for not watching out on you. They just can't keep getting away with this, Ward and Rafe."

"What did Rafe do." She spoke hesitantly.

Just before JJ could answer her question, someone started to knock on the door. Her eyes widened when she heard Kelce's voice her head snapped to the door and then back at JJ who stood in front of her, with angry eyes.

"Get inside the closet, right now." She whispered to JJ, hurrying him into the closet that was in the living room. He was cofused at first, but then It started to click.

"Whatever happens, don't get out." She warned him, looking him dead in the eyes. He didn't question her and just nodded.

Just after Valerie shut the closet, she slowly made her way to the door, plastering on a fake smile before opening it. "Baby, come in." She moved aside so that Kelce could walk in, he greated her with a kiss to the forehead, but something wasn't right, he looked stressed.

"What's wrong?" Valerie asked him after shutting the door.

"Rafe's been arrested. Toppers no where to be found, he hasn't answered me or messaged me."

"What? When?" Her jaw slightly dropped.

"Yeah, not long ago. Someone also said they saw John B driving the Twinkie. That sucker got out."

Valerie's eyes widened. "Holy shit." She glanced at the closet, making sure JJ didn't loose his shit inside of there. "Im sure toppers fine, he can handle his own shit."

"I need you to go down to the station." He looked at Valerie, almost with pleading eyes.

"What, why me?"

"I need to find topper, make sure he's fine. Ward doesn't give a shit about Rafe, wheezie is under age, Sarah hates Rafe and Rose is probably out god knows where. Your the only one left."

She thought about it for a moment before slightly nodding. "Yeah, okay."

"Thank you, baby." He smiled before hugging her. "I'm sorry for being hard on you, I just want what's best for you." He spoke gently, pulling slightly away to look into her eyes

"Yeah, I know." She whispered, tears spreading in her eyes when she remembered everything he has said to her. Everyone has bad days though, right? It was just a one time thing. He loves her, he would never hurt her.

"I'll call you later, I love you." Kelce placed a gentle kiss on her lips before leaving her house

She took a large exhale, happy nothing went wrong. Val walked to the closet, opening it and letting JJ out. "Jayj, you have to leave, I need to go see Rafe."

„No, you can't, Val."

„Why?" She frowned.

"He almost drowned Sarah! Killed Peterkin!" He looked at her as if she had lost her mind.

"I thought Ward killed her-" fear grew in her eyes. Suddenly she forgot everything Rafe had done for her.

JJ sighed. „We told you that because we didn't want you to get messed up in his crap. I'm sorry Val."

"No. You don't get to apologise! I've been nothing but good to you, and all you guys ever do is lie!" She began to yell, tears now rolling down her cheeks. JJ looked at her with guilt. He wished she could understand. "Val-"

"Get out, J." She closed her eyes, trying to calm herself down. "Take the back door so Kelce won't be able to see you, if he's still out there. I have things to do." She grabbed her car keys and bag, waiting for JJ to get out.

"If anything goes south, please Val, come to me, okay?"

She didn't answer him. All she did was stand with crossed arms waiting for him to get out, and he did, just like that he was gone.
