Chapter 5

While Taehyung watches videos about cutting hair, his phone rings. Jungkook startles and growls. Taehyung softly smiles and pets Jungkook's head as he answers the call.

"Hello? Who is this?" Taehyung answers the phone and threads his fingers through Jungkook's hair.

"This is Oh Eunkyung from Daydream Conglomerate. Is this Kim Taehyung?" The woman on the phone responds.

"This is." Taehyung grips the phone and holds his breath with anticipation.

"I am calling to congratulate you. Daydream Conglomerate is happy to offer you the position of executive assistant." Eunkyung happily announces.

"Executive assistant?!" Taehyung shouts with shock. "I did not apply for that position. Plus, I thought that there were supposed to be two more interviews."

"The interview you were in was for the executive assistant position," Eunkyung explains as she sends Taehyung the offer email.

"Uhm, how busy will that make me?" Taehyung asks as he looks at Jungkook. "I have to be able to get off on time every day and have weekends free. I really didn't apply for that position."

"Don't worry. You will be working with me. You were hired to lighten the load. You will have the hours you want." Eunkyung explains to Taehyung's relief.

"Oh, that is good." Taehyung smiles at Jungkook, who is watching him intently.

"If you want to accept the offer, please accept by responding to the email I just sent you. However, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me." Eunkyung hums and looks at the CEO, who is waiting intently.

"Okay. Thank you so much. I will look over the offer and respond by the end of the day." Taehyung responds and opens his email.

Once the call is over, Taehyung reads through the offer. He gasps when he reads about all the benefits and his salary. "This must not be real, " he mutters to himself, and he quickly accepts the offer.

"Good thing?" Jungkook quietly asks as he observes Taehyung's facial expressions.

"A very good thing." Taehyung softly smiles at Jungkook and brushes his hair out of his face. "Are you ready for me to cut your hair?"

"Yes. Like you." Jungkook eagerly nods and timidly reaches out to touch Taehyung's hair.

"I will do my best." Taehyung gets up from the bed and gets everything ready to cut Jungkook's hair. Once everything is ready, he helps Jungkook get up from the bed and helps him to the chair.

Taehyung has Jungkook facing the mirror so that he can tell Taehyung what he wants. When Taehyung lifts the scissors, Jungkook flinches and growls softly. "It is okay. I will be careful." Taehyung softly hums and soothingly pets Jungkook's head to comfort him.

Once Jungkook's growls subside, Taehyung carefully snips Jungkook's long hair, letting the long strands fall to the floor. As Jungkook's hair is gently cut away, the pain he grew up with seems to dissipate. "There is this saying that hair holds memories. Hopefully, those memories leave with your hair." Taehyung tenderly hums as he cuts the last strand.

Jungkook's eyes tear up as he listens to Taehyung. Taehyung sees Jungkook's tears but does not say anything. He knows that a lot of tears will be shed as Jungkook heals from a lifetime of trauma.

The rest of the time is quiet as Jungkook watches his hair get cut away. He looks at the sharp blades that have hurt him in the past. What has been a weapon in other's hands is something healing in Taehyung's hands.

"Hmm, I should use the clippers now. Will you be comfortable with that?" Taehyung softly asks as he looks at Jungkook through the mirror.

When they were watching the haircut tutorials, Taehyung pointed out the different tools used so that Jungkook would not be startled when he used one of them. So, when Taehyung turns on the clippers, Jungkook does not flinch. The clippers are in Taehyung's hands. They will not hurt him.
