"Miss Miyeon, it's time for you to wake up."

The morning came quick for Miyeon. She was awakened by her maid and friend Harin. Today was the day she was going to meet Jaeyun, her future husband. Just the thought of that made Miyeon feel chills around her body. She bathed and got dressed in an exquisite pink dress and put a white lace bow in her long brunette hair.

As she exited her room, she saw the servants scurrying from room to room making the palace look extra luxurious for Prince Jaeyun's arrival. Miyeon headed downstairs to find her father and stepmother waiting for her. "Oh dear you look wonderful," said the king embracing into a hug. "Now now honey, you don't want to mess up her make up when Prince Jaeyun is arriving soon," stated her stepmother interrupting.

Miyeon's smile faltered. He's nearly here? But I just finished getting ready. How can he already be nearly here? Just then, a servant walked in looking a bit nervous, "Your majesties, Prince Jaeyun has arrived. "Already? That was quick. Miyeon, dear why don't you wait for Prince Jaeyun in the dining room whilst me and your mother bring him in. Is that okay with you?" asked her father. "

Yeah...that's fine." Miyeon left the room and went into the dining room her mood now ruined. How could he refer to the woman as her mother? Did he just forget about mom that quickly?

"Good morning, Princess Miyeon ," said a soft and melodious voice. Miyeon turned around to see Prince Jaeyun standing right in front of her and he was gorgeous. He had strikingly pale skin which contrasted to his blonde tousled hair. His eyes were deep crimson red which were piercing and intense.

"I hope you are well," said Jaeyun as of he took her hand and gave it a small kiss. "Good morning Jaeyun, I..am well thank you." It would be a lie to say Miyeon wasn't flustered by his sudden actions. To her, he didn't seem as bad as everyone said he was.

"Now then, shall we get on to the meeting?"asked Jaeyun. "Oh..uh yeah we should." Miyeon hurriedly sat down next to Jaeyun. As the meeting proceeded, Miyeon couldn't take her eyes off Jaeyun. I mean the man's face was a piece of artwork it was kind of hard not to look.

"So your mother and I have decided that you and Jaeyun's marriage will be 6 months from now on the 22nd of August and then your coronation day will be a week after your 21st birthday on the 22nd February," announced King Taemin, "Is that okay with you Jaeyun?"

"Of course it is your highness. Now is it okay for me to take Miyeon on a walk outside on the castle grounds. You know so we can get to know each other?" asked Jaeyun. "What a wonderful idea of course you can," replied Queen Jiwoo, "We'll be waiting for you in here."

"Okay then let's go Miyeon," said Jaeyun before he took your hand and led you outside. As they walked, Miyeon couldn't help but notice a change in Jaeyun's demeanor. "You know uh Jaeyun, I just have to ask..what made you decide that you wanted to marry me?"

"Power." He said bluntly. Miyeon stopped walking baffled from what you just heard. "Excuse me?" Miyeon looked over to him to see that sweet and friendly look from before had been replaced with a face of arrogance and superiority. "What?" he said in a snarky tone, "You thought I actually liked you?" He left a chuckle dripped with condescension.

Jaeyun walked closer to Miyeon his smile faltering, "You really think I would like a pathetic princess like you let alone a human? You must be really delusional to think that. My kingdom is more powerful than you and your pathetic excuse for a kingdom. I mean the only reason I agreed to this is because I want to become king. Nothing more and nothing else."

What Jaeyun said pissed Miyeon off to the max. "Enough, Prince Jaeyun," she said firmly, her voice ringing out with authority. "I will not tolerate your insults anymore. If you cannot treat me with the respect, then I see no reason why I should continue this walk."

For a moment, Jaeyun looked taken aback by Miyeon's outburst. He was expecting her to be so upfront about it. To her surprise, he broke into a grin, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Well, well, it seems the princess has some fire after all," he remarked, his tone teasing and unkind. "Very well, let us return to the castle. But do try to lighten up, Princess. After all, we will soon be husband and wife."

With that, Jaeyun turned and began to walk back towards the castle, leaving Miyeon standing alone in the garden, her heart racing with a mixture of frustration and confusion. As she followed him back inside, she couldn't help but wonder what other surprises Jaeyun had in store for her.
