Hi, Have fun!
Age:15

Today was the first day in weeks my mom was free from work, so she made plans for us to go to the mall to do some shopping and get some lunch. You know, just a normal mother daughter day out.
Except today wasn't going to be a normal day out. How could it be with Taylor Swift as your mother? We were going to get swarmed by paparazzi and badgered by fans for pictures and autographs. But hey, that's what a typical day in my life looks like. You take the moments you can get, even if some parts don't go the way you wanted, but aren't really not how you pictured them. It's not perfect, but it's our normal.

I was just finishing up my hair when I heard my mom call me from downstairs.
"Hey, baby, are you almost ready to go? The car's waiting."
"Yeah, I'll be down in a minute!" I yell back, picking up my phone from my desk before leaving my room and making my way downstairs towards my mom, standing at the front door with her purse and phone in her hand.
"Ready to go, baby?" She asks while turning slightly to open the door. I nod in response as we walk out the door, locking it behind us. We are immediately blinded by the flashing lights of cameras belonging to rude, invasive, middle-aged men.
We keep our heads down and mouths shut as we walk through a group of over a dozen men, poking and prodding into our personal lives with out of pocket questions. Thankfully, security is ushering them back to clear the path to the car, waiting just a few feet ahead of us.
We make it to the car, sliding in across the back seat, thanking the security guard who held the door for both of us. We sit in a comfortable silence for the twenty minute car ride, one of us occasionally checking our phones for messages or social media updates before coming to a stop just outside the entrance to the mall.
Before I could register that we're here, mom turns to look at me, sporting a comforting smile before speaking softly.
"Are you ready, or do you need a minute to prepare?"
Mom knows how sometimes I can get quite nervous and overwhelmed in situations involving big crowds, especially when it gets really loud, which happens often when a bunch of teenage girls see their favourite singer during such casual and very public outings.
"Yeah, I'm ready. I'm feeling okay today. I would, however, like a hug if that's okay?"
She smiles in response before pulling me into a warm embrace. One thing many people don't know but assume is that my mom gives the best hugs.
After we pull away from each other, she turns around, opening the car door and stepping out. She holds out a hand, helping me out before shutting the door and begging to walk towards the entrance to the mall.

We walk around the mall, going in and out of a handful of shops for about an hour before deciding it's time to get some lunch.
"Okay, now I don't know what you want, but right now, I'm craving ice cream, so o figured we could just get that?" Mom asks as we make our way to the food court. I let out a small laugh, and she turned to me with her eyebrows raised. She does not look impressed.
"Wait, you're actually gonna let us get ice cream for lunch? I thought you were just trying to be funny."
"Hey! I am funny, but yes, I am serious. I wanna treat you today. We haven't been able to do something like this in ages."
