TAYLOR'S POV

Today Y/n has a Christmas concert in kindergarten. She's been really looking forward to it, but I think the main thing she's excited about is the fact that me and Travis will both be there.

Usually it's either one of us or none of us because of how busy our schedules can be, but this time we promised her we'd be there.

There's just one thing that's stressing me out. I have an meeting in New York a couple hours later, meaning as soon as her concert's over I have to hop on a plane and fly across the country.

I do feel a little guilty about having to leave right away, but I did work really hard to move the meeting to after the concert. Travis managed to clear his schedule for today so at least one of us is staying with her afterwards.

We're in the car taking her to kindergarten now, both of us decided to drive with her so taht we could soak up as much family time as possible before I leave and Travis has to deal with a crying toddler.

"Baby are you excited for tonight?" I ask the three year old in the back of the car.

"Yes! I excited for mommy and daddy to be there."

"Yeah? You're excited for mommy and daddy to see you performing just like your mommy?" Travis asks.

"No!"

I look over at Travis, both of us just as confused as the other.

"What do you mean "no"?" I ask, turning around to face her. "Are you not excited that mommy and daddy get to see you sing?"

"No, I just happy you're goin'."

I turn back to Travis, my expression falling into one of guilt and adoration.

The short amount of time left of the drive is silent, then once Travis has parked the car, I step out to get Y/n out of her carseat.

"C'mon baby girl, time to go in." I say as I pull Y/n into my arms and lift her out of the car.

When we get inside the building I place her down on the floor for her to go and find her friends which she does happily. We want for a moment, making sure she finds them before we head back home.

It's only and hour and a half later when me and Travis are back in the car on the way to Y/n's kindergarten.

We enter the building and follow the directions we were given by a teacher at the door. The room is full of parents and guardians and siblings of the kids performing and theres still more to come.

We look around at all of the people, deciding to go and mingle for a while before we have to be seated.

"Oh hi! What a surprise to see you both here!" One mother says as she notices us walking by.

I shoot Travis a look of confusion before turning back to her.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Well," She starts, grabbing her husbands hand to get his attention. He looks over at us and smiles, saying a quiet 'hello' when his wife starts speaking again.

"Unlike me and Jason - or almost any of the other parents here - only one of you ever comes to these things. We had started to suspect you'd separated or even gotten a divorce."
