POV ENGFA

"It was her decision, P'Fa. She paid the contract cancellation fee, and there was nothing we could do to stop her," Papa said during our meeting one day.

I stayed quiet, just listening to his explanation.

"I knew this might happen, given your history with her. I had a feeling, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon." He paused and took a deep breath before continuing. "I was informed that she accepted an offer to try her luck in USA. She's going to be a model and actress over there. That's another reason I supported her decision. I spoke with her personally, and Charlotte gave me that as her reason too. I initially tried to argue that what she's achieved here is just as great as what she wants to pursue over there, but she didn't budge. I think that was just an excuse. There's something else she clearly doesn't want to do here anymore."

He finished with a sympathetic look in his eyes.

I nodded and forced a smile. "Alright," I said, pausing as I stood up from my chair. "When does filming for The Devious Hearts start, papa?"

Papa looked at me for a moment before answering, "Next month, for six months. She couldn't turn it down since it's already been announced, and there were long arguments between her team and her. But she decided to go through with it." He ended with a nod.

I took a deep breath and began to walk away, but Papa spoke again, "P'Fa... I hope you're okay, and I hope you both can handle this well. I really do. Don't let this affect you any further, especially you, P'Fa. I'm counting on you."

I didn't look back at him, just nodded and walked out.

I watched her head towards the dressing room after we finished our shoot-the last one for the brand campaign we were both endorsing.

I decided to follow her.

I was determined to try talking to her one last time. That was my decision. And if she still stuck to whatever was going on in her head, I promised myself I'd let her go.

I entered the dressing room and told the assistants and makeup artists who were packing up to leave. They nodded, smiled at me, and quickly exited the room. That's when she turned to protest, but I immediately shut the door behind me.

She picked up her bag and tried to walk past me to the door, but I stopped her by grabbing her hand.

"What are you doing? Let me go," she said quietly, but her tone was full of warning, and her expression was completely blank.

I shook my head, still holding onto her hand. "Talk to me, or we can make a scene right here if that's what it takes."

Honestly, that's exactly what I was ready to do. I'd force her to talk if I had to.

She sighed deeply, avoiding my eyes, then finally said, "Okay." And with that, I let go of her hand.

We stood facing each other, me staring at her with a face full of determination while she looked like a fire that wouldn't die down, even after all these months.

"How long are you going to keep acting like this towards me? I didn't even get a chance to explain. You suddenly decided to leave Miss Grand. What am I supposed to do with that? We've known each other for years, Please." My voice was shaky as I tried to hold back my tears.

She finally looked at me, her eyes hard and unforgiving. "I don't need any explanations from you. Honestly, to me, whatever we had ended the moment I saw that." I was about to argue, but she continued, "I said 'whatever' we had, it's over. No explanation will change that for me, not even if you say you were drunk or that you don't remember. I don't care if you were wrong or right."
