"he's so tired" jooyeon sighed as he entered the room again, carrying hyeongjun with ease as he gently put him down on the bed. "film school must be exhausting."
seungmin and gunil looked at them, as if they knew everything. well, the eldest probably did.
yet both of them knew that it was not about stress. it never was about stress for hyeongjun.
the three of them stayed silent, looking at the sleeping boy and how peaceful he seemed to be.
he was also smiling lightly - a good sign. "that's the first time i see something like this" jooyeon spoke, more to himself than anyone else.
"i thought humans need food to survive. how come he doesn't want to eat? does he want to die?"
jooyeon was genuinely confused. he's heard of that when he took some guardian angel classes. some humans feel like they should not eat, scared of gaining weight.
but what made them scared? why were they scared? jooyeon didn't understand.
"don't know what's going on either" gunil answered and sighed. "i just know it's killing him slowly and he does not want to get better."
people rarely overcome their fear - was hyeongjun bound to starve? or purge out even the slightest bit of what he ate?
jooyeon knew that hyeongjun was his link. once a guardian angel is born, it receives his very own human to take care of.
yet as the angels stopped coming down to earth, they tried to forget about that method of bonding with humans. but jooyeon never forgot.
only jooyeon felt the intense emotions around hyeongjun, only he felt the need to protect him and make him feel better.
the same way as seungmin feels around gunil, how the latter told him.
"how is it to be an angel?" gunil then asked quietly, truly curious. "are you born? or how does everything work?"
the description made both of the angels laugh. "well, kind of" seungmin started. "we have a place where stardust starts to collect and form a life.
when you die on earth, your soul adapts into one of the stardust piles, if you make it to heaven." gunil nodded, completely interested in what he was told.
jooyeon continued. "it's rare to become a guardian angel. that only happens when your cause of death is because you protecting someone.."
the eldest perked up, sitting up. "so that's how your human versions died?" both of them nodded.
"i died in 1890 because i saved my co-worker from being crushed by our working machine. it ended up crushing me, though..."
that was seungmin's reason. and gunil's mouth dropped. "1890!? how old are you guys?"
both of them started laughing, again. jooyeon thought that he had already told gunil everything about them. and every single detail about an angel's life.
"119" seungmin proudly said and grinned. "it's technically 19 if i was a human, we count our age differently."
gunil was stunned, too stunned. looking over to jooyeon, he waited for some kind of confirmation.
yet the angel was stuck looking at hyeongjun, gently brushing his warm fingers through his entangled hair.
so he barely even listened, astonished by the human's beauty. jooyeon would do anything it costs to protect hyeongjun from everything.
that's what he swore himself right there and then.
