just as hyeongjun left the school building, he scoffed. "jooyeon, what are you doing here?"

seeing the latter smile happily actually made him feel a little better, too, but he still couldn't help but be confused.

jooyeon couldn't be an angel, right? otherwise he'd have wings and all the other angelic shit.

the other just scratched his neck. "well, wanted to walk you home!" was the enthusiastic answer and hyeongjun furrowed his brows.

"how do you know what school i attend?" "that's the only film school in town. besides, gunil is still a trustful source, too."

okay, valid. hyeongjun adjusted his glasses as he just accepted jooyeon's presence, both of them started walking towards the tram station.

"but don't you have uni?" hyeongjun asked. "or aren't you supposed to be a trainee somewhere?"

jooyeon felt a sudden stutter in his chest. it's not like he felt his heart stop (he did not have a heart) but there definitely was something.

they did not think about giving them any professions. and hyeongjun's school ended earlier than everything else.

so he just changed the topic. "huh, do you suddenly care about me?" hyeongjun's cheeks reddened, as he turned his head to look out for any cars before crossing the street.

"that's not how i meant it!" "but that's how it sounded!"

hyeongjun's bunny teeth made their appearance as soon as he broke out in overwhelmed laughter. he was adorable.

it grew silent between the two, no words said as they silently walked next to each other.

"i'm glad you can trust-" "you're not human, are you?"

their words clashed, hyeongjun's weighing way more than jooyeon's. so it was silent.

jooyeon was stunned, too startled to speak. did he hear that right? how did hyeongjun know?

it was quiet for a fair amount of time. jooyeon didn't want to answer, so hyeongjun just continued.

"i heard you guys talking about that, so you can't lie to me. jooyeon, what the fuck are you?"

sighing, jooyeon just stopped walking and turned to face hyeongjun. "did something ever happen to you that did not have an explanation?"

hyeongjun's brows furrowed. "yes, but how does that-" "it's the same for our situation here" jooyeon interrupted with a small smile.

"some things are better left unknown."

continuing to walk, he grinned once he heard hyeongjun's perplexed steps following him. "jooyeon, don't just cut me off! answer me!"

the boy grabbed his wrist, stopping jooyeon from speeding up. "i know you're an angel. i just wanted to hear if from you."

both of them stopped walking at the same time, jooyeon turned to face hyeongjun, the latter looking at the floor.

"i just... don't understand how it's possible."

explaining everything would take too long. so jooyeon just shrugged and gave him another reason.

"i'm your guardian angel, hyeongjun. my sole purpose is to help you."

hyeongjun seemed confused at first. then angry. "where were you when i needed it the most?!"

this was not a reaction jooyeon expected. "huh?" hyeongjun seemed frantic. "ten years ago, why didn't you save me from everything that happened?"

jooyeon sighed. "hyeongjun, that's not how guardian angels work, we-" "no, i don't wanna know!"

hyeongjun picked up his pace, tears in his eyes. "i started to tolerate you, okay? i guess i'm confused or- or angry or- i don't know! leave me alone now!"

letting go of jooyeon's wrist, hyeongjun started walking in the direction of his house, not even looking back.

jooyeon fucked up, he knew. maybe hyeongjun just needed some time.
