Astrid leaned against the doorway of Hiccup's house, watching as he sorted through boxes, "Everything dry after all of that ruckus?"
Hiccup startled, looking up with a quick chuckle, "Thankfully. At least most of it. I'm looking for something else, though... Have you ever heard of that dragon my mom mentioned yesterday?"
She thought for a moment, "...Not that I really remember. ...You don't really think that legend about the storm dragon is possible, right?"
"It's barely more far-fetched than other things we've had go on." He paused for a moment, poking through the box a bit more, before sighing and closing it. "Boneknappers were a myth before we found them too, it wouldn't be the first time a dragon of legend was revealed to be real."
"Speaking of dragons of legend, where's Toothless?" She asked.
That made him pause, dropping the book he was looking through to peek out the door with her, "Outside. Probably still looking around."
"Looking? Looking for what?"
"I'm not too sure. He's been acting weird ever since the last night. I think he might've caught a glimpse of something in the storm."
Astrid paused. "...You don't think he saw another dragon, do you?"
"Couldn't have been one of ours, I made sure none were left out." He scratched his chin, standing up straight as he glanced over. "Do you think it was like a stormcutter-? Or some type of bonestormer? ...Maybe a typhoomerang."
She waved off the suggestions, "I don't know. I don't think he'd be acting that weird if it were just one of those. It wouldn't be anything out of the ordinary if it was, those are usually where storms are. ...No. This was something different, I think..."
"Well, then we should probably go check up on him."
"You should go check up on him. I've got some repairs to do around town."
He chuckled, scratching his neck while he nodded. "Yeah, that's fair." Stepping over the boxes, careful to not let his leg catch on the edges, he hopped over to the door, rolling his eyes as she snorted at the sight. "Alright, alright. Go get your repair on. Tell the twins I said hi."
She smiled back at him, placing a quick peck on his cheek before she shoved his shoulder lightheartedly. "I will. Don't go disappearing on me now, we've got to be on our A game, Berk can't have it's chief flying around looking for whatever Toothless saw for a week on end."
He scoffed, "A week? Absolutely not! Now, a couple days, maybe-"
She rolled her eyes, "Hiccup."
He couldn't help but crack up slightly, shaking his head, "I'm kidding. I'm kidding! I'll make sure to stay as close as possible. Sound the alarm if you notice another burst coming in, okay?"
"You got it. Keep me updated!" She cracked her knuckles before giving a slight wave and jogging away, leaving Hiccup to touch the spot on his cheek that she had kissed, nodding a nod she couldn't see.
"Got it-"
「 ﹏𓊝﹏𓊝﹏﹏🌧 」
Toothless could be hard to find from time to time, but it wasn't always difficult. This time, he finally stumbled across him, where he wandering near the woods head up to try and catch the scent of something. It wasn't hard to pick out his dark scales amongst the greenery, and he had no hesitation to run over and call out to him.
"Toothless! Where've you been, bud?"
Toothless perked up, letting out a huff, before he nodded his head to the forest with a slight warble.
He had to have seen it again. "...It's the same thing from last night, isn't it?" He ran his hand along Toothless's head, carefully feeling at the scales as he pet over them. "What'd you see, bud? Show me-"
Toothless nodded his head, and cautiously began leading the way.
The fog still hung heavy, and the humidity would've been unbearable if Hiccup hadn't dressed light. Thick clouds wove between the trees like ghostly wool, making things hard to see, all except Toothless, who seemed to be intently following a scent he had locked onto.
It wasn't until Toothless bounded forwards suddenly did Hiccup realize they were closer than expected. Though the sudden departure was startling, he picked up his own pace, running after him.
"Toothless! Wait up!"It took pushing through yards of broken foliage before he stumbled near into a lush clearing, the mist making it as terrifying as it was ethereal.
But that's when he saw it.Toothless was there, but for a moment Hiccup could've sworn he was seeing double. That was only until he noticed the stark differences that the golden eyed dragon across from Toothless had.
What is that?
