Xander's grip tightened around my wrist, his fingers digging into my skin as if he were trying to meld us together. The more I struggled, the harder he clamped down, dragging me away from Noah's bloodied and unconscious form. My pleas fell on deaf ears which were drowned out by his fury.
"Alex, please..." I choked out, my voice raw and desperate. "He's hurt, he needs help. Just let me call an ambulance. We can't just leave him here. I promise I won't fight you anymore and—"
"For god's sake, just shut the fuck up!" He yelled at me, his tone a razor sharp edge that cut through my words. His eyes were cold and unfeeling, like shards of broken glass. There was no mercy in them, no hesitation. "I'm done listening to you cry for him. I'm done with you running away like a dog all the fucking time."
"He could die!" I couldn't stop the tears that were streaming down my face, blurring my vision as I was yanked down the hallway. My feet stumbled to keep up with his relentless pace. I tried to twist out of his hold, but it was like fighting against iron chains.
"He fucking deserves it." Xander growled as he stared at his best friend's body, and the disgust and anger in his voice made my heart ache. He wasn't bluffing, there was no hint of the man I once knew, the one who had shown me tenderness, who had whispered sweet nothings into my ear. This was a man consumed by his hatred.
I couldn't help it. I sobbed Noah's name again, a broken plea for Xander to stop, to let me go. But that only made it worse. His rage flared up like a wildfire, uncontrollable and all consuming. He grabbed my arms roughly and slammed me against the cold wall with enough force to knock the breath out of me. The impact sent a sharp pain radiating through my back and I gasped, tears spilling over my cheeks.
"Do you know how sick I am of hearing his name come out of your mouth?" His voice was a low and dangerous whisper that sent chills down my spine. His face was inches from mine, and I could see the madness in his eyes. He was losing it, the threads of his control unraveling right before me. "Every. Single. Time."
"Xander, please..." My voice was barely audible, trembling as I tried to push him away. But he was immovable, his body pressed against mine, trapping me between him and the wall. My heart pounded in my chest, fear coiling around it like a snake, squeezing tighter and tighter.
"No more, Melena. No more crying for him, no more thinking about him, no more anything for him." He murmured, his hand moving from my wrist to grip my jaw, forcing me to look into his eyes. "You're mine. And I'll make damn sure you never forget it."
He crushed his lips against mine, the kiss was brutal and punishing, nothing like the soft caresses I once knew. It was a claim, a violent declaration of his ownership on me, and I could do nothing but endure it. My heart ached for Noah, but Xander's possessiveness overshadowed everything else. It left me gasping for air, for any form of sanity left.
When he finally pulled away, his eyes were wild, dark with satisfaction. He leaned in close, his breath hot against my ear as he hissed.
"He's nothing. He was never anything. And if I ever catch you looking at him like that again, you'll wish it was you lying in that pool of blood."
The threat hung in the air, killing me as I struggled to find my voice, to say something, anything that might calm him down. But there was nothing left to say. Alex had made his decision.
"You're hurting me." So I whispered.
"You think I care?" He scoffed, his breath hot against my face as he leaned in closer. His hand left my wrist, only to grab my chin roughly, forcing me to look up at him. His thumb pressed against my jaw, hard enough to bruise, as if he was trying to imprint himself into my very bones. "You really think I give a single fuck about your pain?"
My heart raced in my chest as I tried to look away, but he wouldn't let me. His eyes looked crazy, as if he was on the edge of losing control completely.
"This ends now, Melena."
I gasped as he pressed his body against mine, his hands moving to my waist, gripping me with force that made it hard for me to breathe. He leaned in, his lips brushing against my ear.
"You want to help him?" He whispered, his voice dripping with venom and jealousy. "You want to save him? Too bad. Because all you'll be thinking about from now on is me."
Before I could respond, his mouth crashed down on mine again, the kiss felt brutal and punishing. It wasn't a kiss of love, no. This was him claiming what he believed was his. I tried to push him away but he was too strong. His hands gripped my waist with bruising force, pulling me closer and pressing me tighter against the wall.
He bit down on my lower lip, the sharp sting making me whimper and he used that moment to deepen the kiss, his tongue invading my mouth with an aggression that left me breathless. There was no escape, no reprieve. Xander was everywhere, surrounding me, suffocating me with his touch.
His hands roamed over my body, hard and rough, marking me with every touch. He wanted to make sure I knew, to remind me that I was his. His fingers dug into my skin, leaving bruises.
I sobbed, tears streaming down my face as he moved his mouth to my neck, biting down hard enough to leave a mark. His teeth grazed my skin, his breath hot and heavy as he growled against my throat.
"Mine." He declared, the word filled with satisfaction. "You're mine and mine alone. And I will make sure you never forget it."
"Xander, please," I begged. "Don't do this..."
But, he didn't stop. His hands moved lower, gripping my thighs and lifting me up, pinning me against the wall with his whole body. My legs wrapped around him instinctively, but there was no comfort in the closeness, only fear and desperation. His lips found mine again, this time slower, but no less intense, as if he was savoring the moment, taking pleasure in my helplessness.
"You're never going to cry for him again." He whispered against my lips, his voice a dark promise. "Because I'm going to make you forget him. I'm going to make sure that every time you think of him, you remember this night. You remember me."
He kissed me again, his lips bruising mine, his hands gripping me with a force that left no room for doubt. He wasn't just claiming me, he was destroying any part of me that might still hold onto Noah, any part that might resist him.
With one final, painful tug, he dragged me away from the scene, my legs were barely able to keep up, my mind was reeling from the horror of it all. Noah was left behind, bleeding and alone, but Xander didn't care. And as much as I hated to admit it, I realized that in Xander's world, there was only room for his twisted version love, his uncontrollable need to possess and destroy.
I was his. And I wasn't sure I would survive it.
