Chapter 30---- Love wins

After two days, Yao sat across from Shen Wei, his eyes were red from crying. The prison walls seemed to close in around him, a stark contrast to the life he once knew..

"Shen Wei, I need to understand, why did you do that?" Yao asked

Shen Wei's gaze dropped "I was consumed by anger.. I felt abandoned and replaced.. I didn't think about the consequences... I was only thinking about Yunlan, whom I love madly"

Yao's expression remained neutral, but his heart ached seeing Shen Wei's remorse..

"Regret is eating away at me," Shen Wei continued "Being away from my little son, Yunlan, Yutong ge...it's a punishment worse than any prison sentence. I realize now that family is everything.."

Yao nodded, his eyes locked onto his.. "Family is forgiveness, love, and support. You hurt us deeply, Shen Wei. But I want you to know that we're here for you, despite everything..!"

Shen Wei's tears flowed freely, his body shaking "Thank you, Yao. Your forgiveness means everything to me. I'll spend the rest of my life making amends.."

In that moment, Yao saw the shattered remains of Shen Wei's pride and the glimmer of a newfound humility. He knew that his journey towards redemption would be long and arduous, but he also knew that with support and love, Wei could find his way back.

Yao's eyes lit up as he entered the room, witnessing the heartwarming scene before him. Yunlan and Yutong were attempting to soothe Xiao Bao, who was crying..

Yao's face broke into a warm smile as he approached the trio "Looks like someone's got his hands full!" He exclaimed, his eyes twinkling.. Yunlan and Yutong exchanged a relieved glance, grateful for Yao's timely arrival. Yao gently lifted Xiao Bao into his arms, cradling him close..

Xiao Bao's tiny hands wrapped around Yao's finger, his eyes locking onto his face. Yao's smile softened, his gaze filled with adoration.

"Hey, little one," Yao whispered with his  voice, filled with love "You're so precious. We're all here for you, always!!"

As Yao swayed gently, Xiao Bao's fussing subsided, replaced by coos and giggles.. Yunlan and Yutong watched, their hearts swelling with gratitude.

"Thanks, Yao. We're trying our best, but..." Yunlan's voice was low.. Yao's glance reassured him "You're doing great, Yunlan.. We're in this together!!"
Yutong nodded, his eyes shining with unshed tears "We make a good team, don't we?"

Yao's smile encompassed both men "The best team..!" In that moment, surrounded by love and unity, they found strength to face the challenges ahead, knowing their bond would overcome any obstacle.. They were smiling but the absence of Shen Wei left a deep sadness on their hearts, especially Yunlan and Yutong..

Yunlan was staying with the other couple for baby's sake.. because alone, he was unable to manage..

In the evening of next day, the room fell silent as Xiao Bao's wails pierced the air, his tiny face scrunched in distress. Yao, Yunlan, and Yutong exchanged worried glances, trying to soothe him, but nothing seemed to work this time...

Just as they were at a loss, a gentle voice whispered "Let me try!!"

Shen Wei, his eyes brimming with tears.. stepped forward with his open arms..

As soon as Shen Wei cradled his son, Xiao Bao's cries ceased.. He snuggled into his embrace, his tiny hands wrapping around his finger.. The room held its collective breath as Shen Wei's soft humming and gentle rocking motion seemed to mesmerize the baby..

Xiao Bao's eyelids drooped, and he fell asleep in his arms.. a peaceful expression on his face like the baby get the heaven..

The group stared in awe, witnessing the instant connection between mother/father and child. Yao's eyes met Shen Wei's, seeing a deep longing and love reflected back.
