Another day, another time when I want to die in a hole.
"Today's activity will be the Relay Race of Disarray!" Caine shouted. "You will be put into teams and each partner will have to go through series of obstacles to compelte the race!"
The teams were announced.
"Jax and Pomni, (y/n) and Kinger, and Zooble, Gangle, and Ragatha!"
A purple idiot, I thought, but at least it's not Jax.

"(Y/n)," Jax said as we were running. There were hot flames everywhere, walls with burned hole in them blocking our path. Jax was tall enough to where he could climb over a few, but I had to find holes that I could fit through.
"Not now."
"Please, (y/n). Can we talk?"
"Not now. And especially not if you're going to lie to me."
A flame awoke behind us, prompting us to run faster. I ducked as Jax scampered up the wall. I kept running, trying to avoid Jax as he called my name repeatedly.
"(Y/n)? (Y/n), wait, please!"
Annoyance built up in my heart, but I chose to stay silent as I pushed myself farther.
I didn't look back.

"Last place is Zooble, Gangle, and Ragatha!"
Jax rolled his eyes as everybody else clapped out of respect. I had to stop myself from glaring at him. He wasn't worth my time anyways.
"Second was (Y/n) and Kinger!"
Jax clapped as did everyone else. I smiled.
"And first was... Jax and Pomni!"
"Oh really, Jax did nothing," Pomni said, rolling her eyes.
I didn't want to say anything, but I gave her a look that said, I feel you, girl.
Kinger nudged me. "Oh, look, (y/n)! Look, we did it!"
I gave Kinger a small smile. "Yeah, we did."
We all started going about our separate ways everyone leaving the common area until it was just Kinger and I.
A thought came to me. "Kinger," I asked, "what were the other members like? The ones that aren't here now? Like Kaufmo?"
Kinger shuddered, looking back at me. "Like Queenie?"
"Like Queenie."
"I need something in return. Queenie is not a subject to be joked about," he said seriously. "She was my whole world, better than my insect—"
"I'll play a song for you about Queenie," I blurted out without thinking.
Kinger paused. "Really?"
"Yeah, that's why I need you to tell me about her," I said. Obviously I was lying, but it wouldn't hurt to do something nice for him.
