I glared daggers at the timid rabbit that just entered the room. I was furious, ready to beat the shit out of him with my flute.
I mean, it wouldn't be that bad if I did. Caine would make me a new one. No biggie.
He'd live.
Awkwardly, Jax closed the door behind him and stood there. Neither of us spoke, just me giving him a death glare while he stared at the floor, desperately avoiding my eyes.
Clearing his throat, he decided to speak. "I'm sorry."
I gave him an expectant look. Go on.
After a sigh, Jax continued. "I'm sorry for invading your privacy, abusing my powers, scaring you, and for making you cry."
I raised an eyebrow. "What about getting mad at me for no reason?"
Jax looked confused until he realized what I meant. "I wasn't mad at you."
"Oh, really?" I asked, getting a little curious.
"Yeah, really. I was mad at myself because I made you flinch."
I stared at him, tears filling my eyes. I couldn't stay mad at him anymore, especially since what he was was too fucking sweet.
Jax really did seem guilty, letting his gaze fall to the floor and not looking up. His ears drooped down as he fidgeted with his fingers, his foot tapping slowly.
When he really did look up, a flash of panic came on his face as he realized I was crying.
"@+$&," he swore. "Um... I'm sorry? Wait, what happened? What did I do?"
I shook my head with the smallest smile. He has always panicked—especially when there was no reason to.
"Oh, Jax," I reached my arms out, standing up. "Come here. I need a hug."
In a second, Jax scooped me up in his arms and held me tight. He rubbed my back in a comforting manner, his head rested on top of mine.
He carried me to the couch, letting me sit down comfortably. His hands traveled to my ears as they twitched, making him chuckle.
"Don't worry, I'll be gentle. I promise."
Another feeling of pure bliss spread throughout my body as I leaned into his touch. His light touches soothed me as I hummed, closing my eyes and smiling.
I could never recall what he was doing after the bliss passed, but I knew for a fact that it felt good and that I enjoyed it very much.
"(Y/n)ie," he whispered, retracting his hands from my ears, "are you feeling better now?"
"Yeah," I muttered. "Thank you."
"Anything for you."
I turned to him, a more serious expression on my face. "Can you promise me something?"
"As I said, anything for you." He winked at me, making me smile softly before I pursed my lips.
"Don't tell Caine what happened. Especially don't tell him about the person who attacked me in my nightmare."
He nodded in understanding. "Okay. I won't."
I cuddled into him, laying my head on his shoulder. "Thank you."
"Anything for my favorite mousie."
That's all I could remember before I went to sleep.
~•~•~
Jax stared at the pretty mouse that was passed out on his shoulder. She was too cute and he wanted to kiss her so bad—
Okay, let's steer away from there.
The devil on his shoulder seemed to be jumping in either joy or restlessness. Make out with her, grip her waist, pin her down—
Stop! The angel yelled at him.
Imagine how good she'd look under you—
Jax turned off his thoughts.
He smiled at her, just the two of them, sitting together. He could stay like this forever, just having her nearby him as he watched over her like a guardian angel.
A really violent guardian angel.
Softly, he began to remove her hoodie, afraid she might overheat. He never recalled being this gentle and soft for someone, but he would do anything for (y/n).
Jax froze. Two faint lines were on her arm, not super noticeable but to Jax who pays attention to everything about (y/n), very noticable.
A scar. Two scars, both long and looked like they were cut by someone.
His anger and rage at the situation made him want to scream at the top of his lungs, but he held back, biting his lip. He didn't want to wake (y/n) up.
Instead, he calmly folded the hoodie and picked (y/n) up, carrying her to her bed and placing the folded hoodie next to her.
He was about to leave the room but paused. Will she freak out if I'm not here when she wakes up?
Jax scanned the room for anything useful and found a small stack of paper and a pen by her desk. He tore off a small part of it, crumpling the portion he didn't use and threw it in the trash can under the desk.
Jax began scribbling a message for her.
hey so yeah, i took off ur hoodie bc i thought youd overheat so yw
so no i didnt do anything to your stuff except for take your pen and use this sheet of paper. its ripped but i threw the extra stuff away so yw again
im gonna sleep in my room and knock on ur door when i wake up, pls pls pls answerHe made a note to himself. Knock on the door, not use your stolen keys to barge into your room while you're asleep.
kk so yeah bye wow i suck at writing notes
your favorite rabbit bestie
He wished he could be more than a bestie, but that's besides the point.
Jax smiled as he climbed up her loft bed to place the note on top of the hoodie. He admired her sleeping form for a few more seconds before tucking her in.
"Goodnight, mousie. I—"
He caught his breath. Should I say it?
COWARD, half of his brain yelled at him.
The other half of his brain agreed. Come on, it's not like she can hear you anyways.
SAY IT, YOU PUSSY!
"I love you."
He gently shut the door, a huge smile overtaking his face. I love her so much.
