SEONGHWA'S POV
*WEEKS LATER*
I stepped out of my room, the sound of laughter and music spilling into the hallway as soon as I opened the door. As I walked into the living room, I couldn't help but smile at what I saw.
San and Wooyoung were in the middle of the room, microphones in hand, putting on a full-on performance. They were doing karaoke, their voices mingling together in a playful harmony as they sang in front of Mingi and Yunho, who were lounging on the couch, clearly enjoying the show. San and Wooyoung moved around each other effortlessly, their energy contagious. They kept nudging each other, making exaggerated gestures that had them both laughing in between lines.
I leaned against the doorway, taking it all in. It was hard to believe that just a few weeks ago, things had been so tense between them. Seeing them like this—so carefree, so in sync—it made me feel a warmth in my chest. They'd come a long way since then, and the bond between them seemed even stronger now.
As I watched them, Mingi suddenly jumped up from the couch, grabbing a microphone and joining in with an enthusiastic yell. The three of them were now belting out the song together, their voices mingling in a chaotic, but somehow perfect, harmony. San and Wooyoung exchanged a glance, then started dancing together off to the side, letting Mingi and Yunho take over the lead. They moved in time with the music, their laughter loud and clear as they twirled each other around.
I couldn't help but smile wider, feeling a sense of pride and relief. They'd really gotten past that rough patch. Seeing them like this—happy, playful, so full of life—was everything I'd hoped for.
Just then, I felt a pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind. I glanced over my shoulder to see Hongjoong grinning at me. "Are you watching the kids?" he teased, his voice warm and affectionate.
I nodded, still smiling as I turned my attention back to the scene in front of me. "Yeah," I replied softly. "I'm just... I'm really happy to see them like this."
Hongjoong pressed a kiss to my cheek, his embrace tightening slightly. "Me too," he murmured. We stood there together for a moment, just watching them—our chaotic, beautiful family. The laughter and music filled the room, and for that brief moment, everything felt perfect.
After a while, Hongjoong tugged on my hand, pulling me back toward our room. I took one last look at San and Wooyoung, still dancing and laughing together, before letting him lead me away. As we headed back, I knew we were leaving them in the best place they could be—together, happy, and surrounded by the people who loved them.
The sounds of laughter from the living room slowly faded behind us. I couldn't help but smile at the thought of San and Wooyoung enjoying themselves again after everything they'd been through. But once we entered our room, the smile faded as a lingering question came to the forefront of my mind.
Hongjoong, seemingly unaware of the shift in my mood, flopped down onto the bed and stretched out with a contented sigh. "They're really something, aren't they?" he said, a small grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Yeah, they are," I replied, leaning against the dresser. My mind was still preoccupied, and I knew I had to bring it up, even if it risked ruining the lighthearted atmosphere.
He must've noticed the change in my tone because he sat up, concern flickering in his eyes. "What's wrong, Seonghwa?"
I took a deep breath, unsure how to start. "Can I ask you something?"
"Of course," he said, though there was a slight tension in his voice now.
"What do you... what do you consider us?" The words came out softer than I intended, but I couldn't mask the uncertainty behind them.
