Priscilla’s POV

Priscilla stood in the middle of the room, her heart swelling with a mix of pride and disbelief. Just over a year ago, this—all of this—had been a distant dream. Starting her own business consultancy had felt like a leap into the unknown, filled with risk and uncertainty. But now, as she looked around at the faces of friends, family, and clients gathered to celebrate her latest success, she could hardly believe how far she had come.

It had been a whirlwind—a blur of late nights, endless meetings, and moments of doubt that gnawed at her confidence. But every challenge, every obstacle, had only fueled her determination to prove herself. And here she was, having just signed her first major corporate client. It was more than she could have imagined in such a short time, and the pride she felt was overwhelming.

But beneath the pride, there was something else—a strange sense of anticipation. She glanced at John, who had been uncharacteristically quiet tonight. He was always her rock, steady and supportive, but tonight there was something different in his eyes. Was it nerves? Or maybe… anticipation? She couldn’t quite place it, but it made her heart beat a little faster.

The evening was winding down when John stood up and took the microphone. Priscilla felt her pulse quicken as he walked toward her. The way he looked at her—like she was the only person in the room—made her heart ache with love. She had seen that look a thousand times, but tonight, it felt different. More intense. More meaningful.

“Priscilla,” John began, his voice rich with emotion, “I’ve watched you take a bold idea and turn it into something extraordinary in just over a year. You’ve faced every challenge head-on and built something truly remarkable. I’m so proud of you—not just for what you’ve achieved, but for who you are.”

Priscilla’s breath caught in her throat. The room seemed to blur around her as she focused on John’s words, each one landing softly but deeply in her heart. She had always prided herself on being in control, on having a plan for everything. But right now, in this moment, she felt completely unprepared for the wave of emotion that washed over her.

“But tonight,” John continued, his voice steady but laced with a vulnerability that made her heart squeeze, “I want to talk about something else.”

Priscilla’s eyes widened as John moved closer, and suddenly, she saw Ada and Tayo step forward, each holding a small box. The realization hit her like a bolt of lightning. Her mind raced, but her heart was ahead of her, already brimming with emotion. She watched, almost in disbelief, as John slowly knelt down in front of her.

“Priscilla,” he said softly, his voice trembling just enough to make her chest tighten, “I’ve had the honor of walking beside you as you’ve built this incredible business, and I can’t wait to see where you take it next. But tonight, I’m hoping you’ll say yes to building something even more important—our future together.”

John opened the box, revealing a ring that caught the light in the most beautiful way. Priscilla felt tears welling up in her eyes. She had imagined this moment before, but nothing could have prepared her for the reality of it—the way her heart seemed to expand with love and the overwhelming certainty that this was exactly where she was meant to be.
