Vacation time used up, the boys were starting to move onto using sick days. No one was going to work today, either.

Changbin was still up early, though. He didn't know what appetites were going to be like today, for obvious reasons, but he figured it'd be best to have something already ready for anyone that wanted it— and he knew that if he didn't take care of that, Chan would.

He had to admit, he'd been eavesdropping last night. When he heard Felix's voice ringing through the house following the opening of the front door, he couldn't help it. It's not like it was a hard thing to do in this house with its thin walls.

Felix had seemed awkward around Changbin ever since that last night at the beach. He seemed to have been avoiding proximity and eye contact through all the small number interactions that followed. That, paired with the fact that (as he'd learned while listening in last night) Felix had gone to see Hyunjin (who'd run away to sulk and play the victim at his parents' house), just about told him everything he needed to know. It was almost as good of an answer as a straight up "no".

But that didn't mean Changbin was going to roll over and let whatever they had— or what he thought they had— die without even talking it out with Felix first. Even if Felix said he'd never dream of dating him, Changbin just wanted to know why things had even gotten the chance to come this far.

"Hi, Felix. You hungry?" Changbin asked, plainly, as the boy wandered into the kitchen. It was strange to see him here; he wasn't usually up this early.

A note of surprise colored Felix's expression as he saw Changbin. He looked to be on edge. "Um... maybe a little bit. Don't worry about me, though."

Changbin shrugged, opening the fridge, surveying the contents. "I was gonna make something for everyone. Something easily reheatable..." He closed the fridge door as he heard Felix start to shuffle away again, quietly.

"Felix. I need to talk to you."

The footsteps halted. A breath hitched.

Changbin turned around and took a few steps closer to Felix so he could say his next words more softly; more privately, as he looked him straight in the eye.

   "What are we to you?"

Changbin saw Felix gulp; saw the question hit him like a sucker punch. He heard him stutter, scrambling to give the right answer. No, of course Felix, of all people, hadn't been playing him this whole time— that much was obvious just by the way he seemed so panicked right now. It had to be something else.

"Don't feel pressure to change your answer for me. Or because of me." Changbin paused. "Actually, pretend this weekend didn't even happen. What would you have said then?"
