It had been a few weeks since Evaelysse had first arrived in King's Landing and she had enjoyed every moment. Granted, a few tears had been shared due to missing her father, mother and sisters, but the rest of her family had been welcoming for the most part.

Evaelysse hadn't spoken to her cousin Rhaenyra that much due to the princess being so heavily pregnant that she spent most of her time in her chambers. The younger girl didn't remember much of her cousin as she had been very young the last time they had met, however she did know Rhaenyra to be kind.

Her other cousins, however, were a different story. Evaelysse found that out of all of them, she got along best with Aegon, surprisingly enough. Aegon was only slightly older than her, so they had much more in common than she expected.

Aegon, however, thoroughly enjoyed tormenting his brother Aemond. On more than one occasion, Evaelysse had to stand up for the younger boy as she couldn't bear seeing him cry every time.

Aemond enjoyed Evaelysse's company as she was much kinder than his brother, and also sometimes let him talk to Vermithor. Evaelysse found him incredibly similar to Rhaena in this aspect, as both of them struggled to deal with the fact that they didn't have a dragon when all their siblings did.

Evaelysse was still frustrated with the fact that she hadn't yet ridden Vermithor. Her father had promised her that once she turned ten, she could begin to ride him, but her twelfth name day was close and she still hadn't yet. She was hoping that once her cousins started riding their dragons, she would be able to as well.

Evaelysse often spoke with Helaena, as she enjoyed the girls calm nature. Helaena had somewhat of an obsession with bugs, and spent a lot of her time watching them. Evaelysse was quite content with sitting with Helaena as she did so.

Evaelysse spent much less time with Rhaenyra's children than she did with her cousins, although this was partly due to the fact that they were caring for Rhaenyra, as she was due to give birth any day now. Jace and Luke were both sweet boys, but Evaelysse knew that Rhaenyra yearned for a daughter.

One day, after dinner, Evaelysse was in the library embroidering a bronze dragon onto one of her dresses when Jacaerys joined her. She smiled softly at him, which he returned, however he didn't speak and just watched her sew.

Evaelysse had learnt from Laena how to embroider when she was young, however she didn't really enjoy it, and was only doing it because she wanted a tribute to Vermithor.

Jacaerys shifted in his seat, before speaking. "Do you...do you think you could do something like that for me?" Jacaerys flushed bright red as Evaelysse looked up at him. "That's okay...if you don't want to, I shouldn't have asked."

Evaelysse smiled at the stammering boy. "That's alright, I can do it for you. I'd have to meet your dragon first, though."

Jacaerys visibly relexed when Evaelysse spoke, and returned her smile. "Thank you. I'd do it myself, but I never learnt how to."

"I can teach you, if you like." Evaelysse offered.

"Really?" Jacaerys grinned, looking excited. "Thank you, Evaelysse."

Evaelysse smiled. "No problem, Jacaerys."

"You can call me Jace, if you like. It's what everyone else calls me."

Evaelysse set her dress down, and Jace smiled at her. "Jace, then."

Rhaenyra gave birth a few days later, and the babe looked nothing like Laenor Velaryon, as Evaelysse expected. It seemed that Queen Alicent also expected this, as she called the Princess up to her chambers the very moment the babe was born.
