Chapter 13

Lance was asleep for about four hours and when he ended up waking he got back to work absent-mindedly stroking Ash's hair while typing out a work email.  When I do eventually introduce or tell the Elite Four for both Kanto and Johto they are going to lose their minds. As much as I would love to ask Koga for advice on being a single dad I do not want to cross any boundaries with Ash since like I said it is his choice about when his existence as my child gets told to ANYONE. I just know they're going to lose their minds and I want to avoid that conversation for as long as possible especially since I have to settle Ash in. Lance thought as he was still stroking Ash's hair.

I know Ash wants to enter the silver conference that begins in just a few months and the way he talked his mother must have not called a whole lot so that's one thing I will remedy when he hits the road again. There are a lot of things I have to prepare in preparation for Ash leaving to travel the region but that's a list of worries for another day.  I have a completely different list of things to worry about and get done before Ash is discharged.

I have to clean out one of the guest rooms and get it ready to decorate it when Ash gets discharged.  I have to stock the fridge and pantry full of enough food for both of us and enough Pokemon food.  I need to really learn to cook since I'm not the best at it and I have another person to cook for now. When Ash gets discharged we'll get decorations for his room and I have to remember he probably won't grab most of the things he wants and watch him closely.

Lance thought as he lay there with Ash on his chest still patting his hair. He looked outside watching the night sky and a flock of Noctowl and Hoothoot fly across the silhouette of the moon and he smiled before he ended up falling asleep holding his child in his arms close to him.

When Lance Woke up it was time for another check-up on Ash who was awakened at the same time he was and when it was over he was ushered out of the hospital for the day and wasn't allowed to come back till the next day.   It's only seven in the morning...I can make it back to my house near Tohjo Falls and start cleaning out the guest room and preparing the house. Lance thought to himself as he hopped on his Dragonite and started heading toward his home

Lance's home has two stories and is just about six miles from Tohjo Falls and about a twenty-minute flight to the Elite Four and League. Lance has never used the upper-floor guest bedrooms since none of the elite four have ever felt the need to stay there so they've always been empty just in case. The bottom floor has a living room, dining room, kitchen, and a withdrawing room full of windows so Lance often calls it the sunroom. The Second floor has Lance's bedroom at the end of the hall with a master bathroom attached to it, three guest rooms, and a large bathroom.

One of the guest rooms will be Ash's and after showing Ash a few pictures of the rooms Ash had picked the one furthest from Lance's room. Ash doesn't know that last part but he liked the bay window and the window seat so Lance smiled and now he is ready to deep clean the room from top to bottom.

Lance had always cleaned the house thoroughly even rooms he didn't use so it wasn't like the room was condemned and abandoned it just hadn't had any life in it.  It took several hours but when he was done the room was spotless and ready for when Ash gets discharged. Lance grabbed his Rotom Phone and punched in a familiar number...

"Hey Clair," Lance said as he descended the stairs. "What have you been up to lately? I haven't seen you since you came to Blackthorn and nobody else has either." Clair said and Lance laughed a bit. "yeah I'm taking what Will calls a workcation where I've been taking my work on the road doing things across the region getting ready for the Indigo League and the Sliver Conference." Lance said and he smiled. He's never been able to lie to Clair and vice versa but he can skip over details and it seems to work.  "Ah so that's where you've been," Clair said. "Yeah, and I was wondering if you could come over and help me cook?" Lance asked with slight hesitance. "You...Learn to cook properly? I must be imagining things...Kingdra splash me with water!" Clair called out jokingly. "Come on Clair I'm not joking, so are you helping or not?" Lance said as he pinched the bridge of his nose.  "Yeah yeah don't get your cape in a twist I'll be on my way," Clair said as she laughed and Lance chuckled.  He Hung up and went to wait out on the porch for Clair after setting up the kitchen.

"Good to see you again so soon," Clair said as she dismounted her Druddigon and Lance just shook his head in exasperation and fondness as his cousin strolled into his house toward his kitchen. They started with basics including Rice Balls which resulted in a rice fight between them and then they had to sweep for thirty minutes. They worked on a few dishes and Clair brought an old cookbook from Lance's aunt Clair's mom since she had made him one for Christmas. She had told Clair to bring it to him early since Lance was asking for cooking lessons.

When Clair left Lance went back to cleaning to ease his worries about Ash being discharged and coming to live with him. After a while, Lance took a shower and just went and relaxed for about an hour before feeding his Pokemon and climbing into bed especially because the next day they would be checking Ash's weight to see how much longer he would be in the hospital...

Wahoo Chapter 13 is completed!! This is a part of a three-month special I've been running that I hope you enjoyed. We got more Clair interaction and I am trying to portray her as a bit more adult-like than she is in Cannon especially when she gets to be an Aunt. I don't have much else to say I hope you have a good day and a good rest of your week and see you next week.-K
