"Ash come on wake up we're here," Delia said sweetly to her groggy son as she shook him awake. "hmm" Ash groaned as Delia kept shaking him awake getting more impatient as the minutes passed, and eventually Pikachu shocked him awake with a jolt of electricity. "Ah!" Ash cried out when he woke up. "Ouch, that was a bit too much electricity bud," Ash said and Pikachu just relied sadly while his ears laid flat in his distress. "It's alright bud just try to be a bit more gentle next time ok?" Ash asked and Pikachu nodded. Ash got dressed grabbed his backpack and followed his mother off the boost and into a rental car. That rental car then took into the forest where the place they rented for the weekend was.
When they arrived at the place Ash noticed how run down the cabin looked but he trusted his mother. When they walked in Ash looked up and saw an old chandelier hanging high in the rafters Ash shuddered and prayed to Arceus that there weren't any ghost-type Pokemon around. Ash went to grab a room and when he did, his mom said she was going to the story for a couple hours and would be back before dinner with ingredients to cook. Ash nodded and went to try his best to clean his room and the kitchen. Cleaning his room was easier than the kitchen because all he needed to do for the room was clear the cobwebs, sweep, mop, and clean the sheets, and try to make sure whatever was in the corner wasn't black mold. The kitchen was harder to clean and took over three hours because Ash had to scrub down the counters, scrub all the utensils, and plates, sweep, mop, and deep clean the oven. Ash waited around with Pikachu after doing some training for hours they waited but Delia never showed back up. They went to bed at around five in the morning after waiting for hours on end for Delia to show back up.
The next morning Ash and Pikachu woke up at around 11 am and still no signs of Delia..."I'm going to go look in Mom's room and see if she came home after we went to bed." Ash said after feeding Pikachu some of the Pokemon food that he had in his bag. When Ash walked up the stairs and down the hall to the room she claimed.
There's nothing in here none of her stuff and the room is still pretty gross...It looks like she never set foot in here. If she never came back here last night and never put her stuff down then where is she?? Ash thought as he looked around the room and the adjacent bathroom. As he looked around he found a folded-up piece of paper on top of the pillows on the right side of the bed.
The note...
Dear Ash, If you've found this note then I am long gone, not dead but left the region and you in turn. Don't try to come back to Kanto because I've already sold the restaurant and the house, and bade our neighbors and family friends farewell. You are my only child and the only one I will ever have I have adored you since you were born. I had you so young and I was so afraid and I never got to explore the rest of my life and my identity as an adult because I became a mother at just 19. When your father left years ago I nearly fell apart but I did what a mother is supposed to do and picked myself up for my child but I still grieved for the loss of my love...Your father contacted me when you left for your journey and I thought it was too good to be true...He had another child before you your half-brother he should be around 15 now and was born when your father was only 20. He told me when he left his child behind just a few months ago and he suggested I do the same and then we could be together again.
The fact you are reading this note shows you the choice I made...I am your mother but I couldn't be anymore Ash I couldn't leave this chance behind to leave your father in the dust. I love you and I always will but I can't in good conscience take care of you anymore because the moment it was offered I knew I would leave you and you deserve someone better my son. Every parent tells their child to surround themselves with caring loving people and to drop toxic and mean people and that should include their parents. I want what is best for you to leave me because I'm bad for you even though I'm your mother...I love you but I love your father more and it's always been that way. I apologize I've tried to be a good mom to you. I can't do one of the most fundamental things a mother does put her children's happiness and needs above her own. I love you to the stars and back never forget that my sweet child.
Fondest and most permanent Farewell,-Delia Ketcum
Ash felt like someone had thrown a ton of bricks onto his chest he couldn't breathe properly and his vision blurred. Tears spilled out like waterfalls and ran down his face rapidly as he clutched the paper in his hands and struggled to push oxygen into his lungs and to push carbon monoxide out. Mom left me alone with nothing but the stuff I brought with me and Pikachu...Brock and Misty can't start traveling with me for a few months around Johto until the Silver conference starts...What am I supposed to do now??" This is all Ash could think about as he paced around the living room with Pikachu on his shoulder which kept nuzzling his face to calm his trainer down without much success.
Ash paced well into the night wearing a worn track into the carpet beneath his feet. "Mom...Delia... rented this cabin for just four days and three nights and it's night two and tomorrow is day three. We're going to have to leave this cabin after tomorrow night and since I haven't started my journey and only got this Pokedex from Professor Oak from Professor Elm so I could recognize Johto Pokemon I can't stay in a Pokemon center...I guess we're going to have to rough it like we do when we travel for the most part." Ash said out loud to Pikachu who nodded.
Ash was trying to just get ready to keep his mind off things and he passed out rather quickly from the stress and coming off the adrenaline high. The next morning Ash woke up with an empty stomach since he hadn't eaten in almost three days so he went outside in his last clean pair of clothes to forage for berries for him and Pikachu to eat.
He found some Oran berries, Pecha Berries, Rawst Berries, and Nanub berries enough for the day and some for tomorrow. Ash then washed his worn clothes before hanging them up to dry at around noon. Ash didn't try to cook because the last time he tried without supervision he almost burned down the house. The memory causes a giggle to escape Ash but also some tears at the thought of his old home and life when things were easier...
I just have to survive till Brock and Misty meet me here then I'll have help in everything and it should get easier from there...I hope. I just have to survive till then witch no problem I've got this. Ash thought to himself as he ate his dinner before grabbing his clothes from outside. He took a shower before wrestling Pikachu to get him to bathe. "This will probably be the final night we sleep in a bed for a while...But I did pack a sleeping bag and a blanket out of habit so hooray." Ash said through slight tears and Pikachu just curled a little closer to his trainer and the pair fell asleep.
The next morning Ash and Pikachu ate breakfast before leaving the small cabin and venturing out into Johto's dense wilderness.
Hey there I know it's been a while and I should be working on my other story of 365 days but I lost motivation because of burnout on it. In response to this, I have this in progress and another story or two in the works because I need to get better at keeping a schedule and this will help me do that. I apologize for making Delia the bad guy once more but I have a plot in mind. With the information from the letter, I want to see if any of you guys can guess Ash's dad and Half-brother. They are pre-existing characters so none of the making characters to pull the rug out from under you all. This is going to be a long one so strap in and get some snacks. Ash is going to be a wild child with slight feral energy much like in the series but he doesn't have Brock and Misty there to keep him slightly grounded. Lance will be showing up in either chapter two or three undecided as of yet. I will be giving Lance a team of Pokemon he has used over the years in games and in the Anime.
This story will get a chapter every Saturday unless I say otherwise the week before but I will almost always say when I will be posting next. I hope you have a good rest of your day and stay tuned for the rest of the story.-K
