Chapter 22

Altaria was a bit annoyed she wanted to get to know Lance's Dragonet that's what she belives him to be in a way and to her it makes sense to call Ash that. Lance only owns dragon-type Pokemon and they are one big happy family she views Ash like a dragonet wild, excitable, friendly, and a bit reckless. She wants to watch out for him so she's going to be a bit more assertive in her desire to get to know the little dragonet.

Altaria fished eating her food way before she normally would and she pushed the sliding porch open with her beak, walked to the kitchen table, and just hopped in Ash's lap like it was made for her. Ash nearly jumped ten feet and Pikachu almost electrocuted both Ash and Altaria out of shock and Lance just laughed when he realized it was just Altaria.

"Is she going to peck me?" Ash whispered his eyes not leaving Altaria who was lying like a loaf of bread on his lap. "No, she isn't she probably wants to get to know you and she's tired of trying to tell me so as soon as I'm done with my brekfest she will shoo me out of here." Lance joked even though he knew it to be true. While Altaria is his most motherly Pokemon she is one of the most stubborn and headstrong Pokemon Lance has ever met and if she wants something bad enough she rules the roost and everyone knows it.

Ash blinked at Lance then looked down at Altaria before he started patting her and finishing up his brekfest. When he was done he patted Altaria for a while and Lance was eating as slowly as possible because one he thought this was adorable and two he didn't want to be banished from seeing his son for the rest of the day. Eventually, though Altaria got fed up with him and stuck her neck straight up and Death stared Lance until he finished the remainder of his brekfest and left the room. Altaria chirped in happiness before leaping off Ash's lap, grabbing his sleeve, and leading Ash and Pikachu out of the sliding door.

Ash followed Altaria, interested in where he and Pikachu were being led, especially since they hadn't gotten around to exploring the wooded area around their new home. Altaria was looking for her favorite spot to show Ash where she goes to catch a break from Lance's other Pokemon when needed.

The place she led Ash to was a large clearing surrendered by the dense foliage and underbrush on all sides. There was a big patch of tall grass on the other side of the clearing further from the house and Altaria showed Ash there was a stream trickling just beyond their field of vision and Ash smiled.

While it is true that he loves his Dad and his Pokemon he needs a small quiet break every so often. Since he was abandoned in the wilderness for months and that's where he was for the majority of his journey he feels as relaxed in the woods as his room. Altaria chirped in happiness when she saw Ash's face light up as he walked around the clearing in wonder. "Thanks for leading me here I'm sure it took some degree of trust to allow me here so thank you so much," Ash said as he crouched down and gripped Altaria in a hug.

Altaria in response threw her neck over his shoulder and smashed her face into Ash's back and chirping happily as she did so. They stayed like that for a long time and they were so still that Ash ended up nodding off and fell face-first into Altaria's cloud fluff and in turn Altaria cradled him with her wings and curled her neck around him. Altaria vowed to protect the little dragonet from things as small and weak as the wind and as big and strong as Arceus himself if she needed to.

Ash's POV

"Hey there-" The grey-haired man said as I saw his smokey form crouch above Silver who looked like he just opened his eyes. "Who are you and where am I!?" I heard Silver shout as he scrambled away from the grey-haired man. "Whoa hey, there Silver-" The grey-haired man said as I saw him reach slowly toward Silver. "How do you know my name!?" Silver shouted in anger.

"I knew your father and before you freak out I was only just told myself what he did. He hit you with a tranquilizer and brought you here to me and he left this note witch yes I will give you but the gist of it is he's leaving you here for me to raise since he wants to get back together with his wife and you have a younger half brother who's about eleven. My name's *Distorted* I used to be a part of *Distorted* due to some not-so-great choices in my youth but I'm a better person than my hothead younger self once was. The only good choice of my life was turning toward the light and turning what I thought to be my friends over and saving my own skin." The grey-haired man said and my interest was piqued about the grey-haired man's past.

Before I could let my mind wander, I heard heavy breathing, and I could see just beyond the smokey barrier, the landscape change around Silver. "He's going to come for you now he knows you're trying to denounce his legacy." I heard a voice whisper and Silver's breathing increased and I tried to open my mouth and shout but nothing came out. As the voice picked up in harshness I strained against my non-existent vocal cords but finally sound came out...

"YOU CAN WIN AGAINST THIS!! YOU ARE STRONG, STRONG ENOUGH TO SHOW THIS VOICE WHO'S BOSS!! I BELIEVE IN YOU SILVER!!" I shouted as loud as I could and Sliver's head snapped in the direction of the wall of smoke I could tell he could barely see me but it was enough because the landscape started to fade away I heard a faint whisper but I could tell Sliver was actually shouted but I couldn't make anything out of it before I was pulled hardly back...

I bolted straight up breathing harshly and I looked up to see the high afternoon sun and I saw Altaria's worried facial expression staring right down at me. She started nudging me and I took a couple of deep breaths before I could talk it out. "I'm alright Altaria just had a bad dream it isn't all that bad," I said and Altaria gave me the ultimate guilty look and I sighed as I started to pat her cloud-like feathers. "Yeah, I know I should tell Dad I just don't want to worry him since he has a lot of stuff to worry about and he always did even before I moved in so I probably just added to it and he doesn't need his child having bad dreams added to it." I said and Altaria just nudged me a touch harder. "Alright if they get any worse I'll tell Dad." I relented and Altaria seemed to be satisfied with the answer.

We stayed in the clearing for a while before we headed back to eat dinner with Dad and the rest of the Pokemon. I took a shower not long after and I told Dad that I really think me and Altaria are really starting to get along and he just chuckled and ruffled my hair. Eventually, Dad took me up to my room and put me to bed before I ended up passing out straight away even with the nap I took in the afternoon.

End of Ash's POV

Altaria was worried for the little dragonet since she knew hiding information was never a good idea, but there wasn't much she could do other than watch out for him and hope Lance started to notice sooner rather than later.
